Three totally different thoughts

First,,,,,gotta love those Mavericks,  been waiting the thirty years for this championship.Basketball has long been my favorite sport, especially to play. Having watched all the "wait till next year" years, this year is really fantastic.    Also really nice to see a whole hand full of veterans who have had very good to great years win their first championship has added a great touch to the whole thing.

Second, it is so weird that two totally different problems exist in this country that really could balance each other out. Impossible to solve, but how could a person divert all the flooding in North Dakota and down the rivers to the Southwest going through the extreme drought?  Actually not impossible, but improbable.

Third, the issue of lobbyists has always bothered me.This is another example of how the very few have more control over our country than they should. Also their involvement makes for more complicated, unproductive legislation.  Two solutions, one of course would be to ban them completely. The other is a bit more practicable considering how imbeded they are in Washington now. Lobbyists can still speak to Congress, but only in open public hearings. No lobbyist would be able to speak to a Representative or Senator except in invited public hearings.Basically Congress would invite them to present their issues at hearings for specific legislation or policy making meetings. This way Congress doesn't work in a vacuum, but everything discussed by lobbyists is held up to public scrutiny like it should be. Of course this is a bit simplistic, but this could be the beginning of better public policy making vs every interest on the planet holding private meetings trying to wrangle one bit of legislation that only affects their interest. One example of the complete insanity that lobbyist cause is the recent health care overhaul. Instead of having a healthcare reform people could understand, we get thousands of lobbyists trying to put in bits and pieces that benefit their own interest.Result is complete insanity, no healthcare reform(whether you want it or not, we need something, the current situation in this country is ridiculous and way over priced and it doesn't have to be the current one, but something productive).  Anyway lobbyists are another of the reasons Americans can't get the government (small or large) that benefit our way of life.

More to come

Also Desalinization is a great way to improve the long term drought problems of the southwest and will help our long term agricultural needs. Another great way to start planning ahead for our country. Just plain common sense works.

Still in shock

game 3 is Sunday, game 2 watched a horrible display of basketball for 3 1/2 quarters then wham what happened, Mavs won a game they had no business winning. Saying still if the Mavs can avoid turnovers they have the best chance, but having 20 turnovers and still winning, wow again just wow,

long time Mavs fan still trying to digest this team and what it is doing.

our computer still on the fritz so still frustrated.

Unemployment numbers came out yesterday    it really is all about jobs, but not job creation, but real economic development to create long term growth for the country. The projects and ideas are out there, but politicians and wall street just don't get it. They are blinded by immediate results and not thinking what is the best way to develop the economy. We have been down for almost three years. How does a person meet the people with resources to make a presentation?

Also it is time to think seriously about desalinization. Plans definitely need to include water to maintain strength in agriculture for our country.

Anyway for now GO MAVS
