Forgetting perspective

I sit around moaning and bemoaning about how bad our elected officials are and how they are ruining our country. All nice and wonderful until you remember how bad it is in the rest of the world.

At some point you have to think about how lucky we still are in the U.S.

So to all the freedom loving people in the Ukraine, Crimea, Russia, Sudan, Syria, and everywhere else under the threat of tyranny I wish I could do more to pressure our government to do better for you. I also wish I had better answers for you. Currently we seem to be letting you down. I hope and pray people get elected here and elsewhere to find answers to stop the atrocities and tyranny that still inhabits our planet.

I hope we can find these answers in OUR lifetime.

Getting ready

Primary season begins in earnest next month. We will see which direction the Republicans appear to be headed.

"It is dangerous to be right, when the government is wrong." Voltaire

The quote above is dedicated to all who are looking for a better answer. Time we found something better than what the Reps and Dems have given us over the last few decades.

"The whole dream of democracy is to raise the proletarian to the level of stupidity attained by the bourgeois."
Gustave Flaubert

I fear the above quote is becoming the truth. Lol

Have a great day

a late night thought

Basically as a conservative you believe that the government shouldn't be allowed to intrude into your life. So it might be curious to note that it seems the Republicans will say they support this theory, but at the same time turn a blind eye to big business being able to intrude and control our lives. If you truly are a conservative in the US you need to protect the rights of all against all intrusions. In the vernacular of the kids.....just sayin'

Tonight's moon

Curious as to everyone's thoughts about this infamous blood red moon. From my understanding the eclipse was suppose to start around 12 central time. I might have this wrong. I just went outdoors and the moon is bright as ever and no color. I don't know if I can stay up much longer to see any of it. I hate being super tired at work. If something happens soon I might check it out for a bit.

And for all you end timers out there, chill out. If it is the end of the world, be a good Christian; if its not the end of the world be a good Christian. Being a good Christian is much more important than the time. People obsess over all the wrong things.

And for you Mavs fans you probably already figured out we need to win Wednesday to get the 7th seed and avoid SA in the first round. That spells high chance of end times for Mavs season unless they get an epiphany on how to beat Spurs in first round. SA is more vulnerable as time goes on in my humble opinion. Better to play them late than early. Stay away from my house this evening, the lightning bolts will start flying if I keep up the bad religious puns in sports metaphors.

Anyway I hope if you are up you get a chance to see the moon tonight. The weather map has some storms out there and definitely loving this free AC. It will get hot here soon enough.

Updated Putting the cart before the horse

I have heard that one of the reasons Sheldon Adelson is so involved in contributing to candidates is because he is very pro Israel, wants to ensure their existence etc... I haven't heard it from him directly, but from various press stories. Yet I am going to use him as the example here because, well it is always fun picking on the super rich. And I do like his Casinos, visited one a couple of times, not stayed, but visited, it is definitely something extraordinaire.

Anyway, when you believe the Jewish people are the chosen people it would make sense to be pro Israeli state. Which is first though? Being chosen by God or choosing yourself. Just because you are supporting something that comes from God are you truly supporting God?

And you see this all the time with religion. Many people want to bend the word of God to fit their view. Unfortunately these views get mixed up with religion and people tend to be misled. Somewhat frustrating whenever a person tries to discern the true word of God. And I don't like to post about God. I am not a theologian and on the saint to sinner line I tend to fall way to the sinner side, yet every now and then I feel a need to say something. I try to keep my ideas positive and reflect my believe in the dignity of life (make some mistakes occasionally) yet I try to reflect a positive approach to our politics etc... I do want to let people know we can do better.

So as you go through the season of Lent, Passover, and Easter and if you are in the cart of a religion or are thinking of checking out a ride please look up and make sure the horse is pulling the cart and the people in the cart aren't trying to pull the horse in their direction.

Another take would be to question questionable facts. I work as a volunteer teaching 7th graders once a week. I have stressed to them this point. The other night I said it is going to snow on Easter. They all said no, no way etc.. Not one of them asked if I meant here. I told them again it was going to snow, again I was swamped with disbelief. They still haven't figured it out and some wanted to bet me an ice cream party. Lesson I was hoping to teach never materialized. I can't wait to see if they remember and what is the reaction. We have next week off. You can have 100% faith, but don't be afraid to ask when, things don't line up. You maybe pleasantly surprised or you may have a rude awakening.

Go Mavs, it is crunch time.

Dear corporate world

To whom it may concern in the corporate world:

I know you are cutting costs to maximize profits. Of course that is your choice. I know you are working hard to conform your customers to fit your business models to save costs. Surely makes sense for you. Why bother going the extra mile for your customer if it doesn't help your bottom line? (and shame on us for letting you conform us to your models.) Why should you worry about what the customer thinks as long as you make money? It is not about the quality of product or customer service anymore. It is only about the profit margin. Sometimes it seems it is not about a business at all, but only about how much money you made.

I do want to take this moment though to make a suggestion, especially if you have any inkling of still caring about your customer. It is an ancient idea, some of you use to have, called training. Believe it or not, having people that work in your corporation have an idea of what they are doing would be really nice for of the few of us left that still consider ourselves as consumers, not dollar signs in your eyes. Just think; trained employees tend to make less mistakes, not chase away people with indifference, and promote good relations with that antiquated group of people called customers. Yes a training department adds benefit even it does add to the horrid cost side of the ledger. Unfortunately this is not a letter to just a few of you corporate worlders, but too many. Or do you really just don't care anymore about us. I will not get mad at your employees now for two reasons. One it is unfair to be mad at someone who was never given a clue in the first place and second if I come into a place or call in and the employees seem ill prepared, well I will stop coming.

Sincerely yours

Customer world

On another note apparently another Congressman has been caught in a sexual dalliance. And of course all the internet trolls say accuse each party at being the worst. As an independent it seems the moral character of both parties is the worst. The trolls point fingers as if their side is as pure as the driven snow. Hmmmmmm time for a mirror check everyone.

not probable, but possible

Strange, but true. Four teams from the NBA's Western conference could end up with the exact same record like 50-32. Yes seeding and one team being left out of the playoffs could be based on some pretty interesting tie breakers. It is really coming down to the wire.

And there is tons of sports locally this weekend. The Final Four is in the metroplex and there is a NASCAR race. Unfortunately many of our guests got hit with some bad storms Thursday evening. I am hoping the rain chances for this weekend don't produce the hail and tornado we (Denton especially) just got. Here's to hoping we have beautiful spring weather for all our visitors for the rest of the weekend. I hope you enjoy the sporting events and the many other sites the DFW metroplex has to offer such as the Perot Museum and the Dallas Arboretum.

Constitution??hmmmmm!!??!!??

Many people say our constitution is good, some say it is great, absolutely no one says its perfect. Our Supreme Court is definitely out to prove it is not perfect.

I understand we all share the right to free speech and yes even the one percenters have this right. They do not have the right to use undue influence to sway government action. If we as a people believe we are equal then equal access to our representatives should be protected. The Supreme Court in its recent decisions on election/campaign laws have decided equal representation,is no longer part of our constitution by allowing unlimited monetary influence they are manufacturing inequality in our political process. They take an oath to uphold the Constitution, yet they seem bound and determined to initiate its' demise.

On a side note I am starting to see some comments that Progressive = communism. Not sure how people make this comparison. Granted these seem to be coming from rightist individuals and groups, but still a bit off. If you read my blog regularly you know I want to revive the 1912 progressive policy, but with a bit more of a conservative leaning so I am taken aback by the communism comparison. They were never anti business, just more pro corporate responsibility.

Have a great day.

Long live the Constitution, the Constitution is dying

Thought of the day

A married man comes to learn that it is better to do than argue. It takes less effort, no matter if its futile, pointless, irrational, to carry through the request; even if he knows with 100% conviction or confidence it isn't going to work than waste an ounce of breath. It is better just to hear, well I wasn't sure from the woman.

Life is much more pleasant to walk the extra mile than fight a futile fight.

And the Mavericks are seriously frustating and disappointing. I haven't given up yet, but damn!
