What happened in Mississippi represents

Everything that is wrong about the Republican party.

First I want to separate Mr. Mayfield's suicide from my general thoughts. We do need to remember everyone is innocent until proven guilty . We cannot assume his guilt even with his suicide. And with suicide there can be much more than what meets the headlines. I hope the authorities find the truth, but unfortunately it will not undo this growing tragedy.

Second I think it needs to be noted there are some people who truly believe they are members of a grass roots group as tea party members. Which leads to part of the problem of the Republican party. They think they are fighting to retake the Republican party from the establishment part of the party which they now realize has not done anything for them except give lip service to their votes. And their being mislead by the tea party leadership is only going to compound things for them down the road.

So the real start is the establishment part of the party. Cochran's victory is so hollow when you realize he ran on what he has done for Mississippi, but Mississippi has nothing to brag about. They are at the bottom of most socio-economic factors. What has he truly done for his state? Yeah a bit of pork here and there and even some needed post Katrina help, but that was more because the Bush adm had to finally do something because they were looking pretty bad. Cochran as the establishment candidate shows exactly how little the establishment wing of the party cares about the people of this country. A Senator should not be in office for almost forty years, brag about what you do for your state in your re election, and yet your state is in horrid shape. Mississippi is not an outlier it is the wall poster for every misrepresentation of every broken promise the Republican party has made for decades. Senator has no business being re elected along with many other current Republicans who have given lip service to a "conservative" agenda only created to get out votes while these Representatives lived high off the public/lobby trough.

So why isn't the tea party the answer. Technically it should be. Upset Republican faithful demanding the party become responsive to their needs is exactly what the party needs. The reality though of underlying backers trying to shove down our country's throat an agenda that in the long run only benefits them isn't going to help the people who believe they have found an answer. Most people outside the tea party have discerned this fact. The faithful though are caught up in their anger, frustration, lack of education, dreams sold to them since their youth by you guesssed it the establishment Republicans, now have all this corralled by some very serious power brokers lead to a seriously misguided movement being dragged through the mud now by right wing extremists getting more and more support by the original power brokers hoping to get enough sheep in office to end run the establishment for their own ends.

We now have rich (extreme) vs. rich (sitting too pretty) fighting for the same votes, both hoping to manipulate these voters to hold onto their greed and status at the expense of the rest of us. And I know this isn't earth shattering news, but it nevers hurts to sit back and use an opportunity to identify a problem so hopefully you can find a solution.

One of these days I hope a true independent conservative movement can take shape to help us through our current economic and government budget malaise. We cannot continue to expect the Federal government can solve all our problems. There is much work to be done, but with both groups of the Republican party touting to be the voice of conservatives and where neither side gives a rat's ass about the people of this country they are handing over power to the very people they say is hurting our economy and country. And this just perpetuates the financial time bomb we are handing the next generation.

Time to find a way to create a real voice for the middle class that understands how important it is to get our fiscal house in order, improve education (not teach rote memorization), rebuild real capitalism (not the bank and rich crony capitalism) to help with broad based wealth building (which creates opportunity for all even the current welfare state), and rebuilds what our constitution and bill of rights gives us. A true conservative knows these are our values and our country, not lip service to the false dream that is destroying us.

better posts coming, but...

I have been out of pocket for a bit and I have saved up a couple of things, but I have just read an article that has ticked me off no end.

The article states that Ann Coulter says that Americans watching the World cup represent the moral decay of America, and that no one whose grandparents were in America were watching.

So Ms Coulter my family history and military history go back pre civil war if not even further and I love the world cup and soccer. I love my Cowboys and Mavericks, too. Ms Coulter represents more the complete decline of our constitution. I am doing everything in my power not to call her the facist witch that she is representing herself to be. She is far from what our constitution is all about and her calling herself a conservative is such a misrepresentation she should be sued for false advertising.

It is so infuriating to read her comments. We are so involved in world affairs it doesn't hurt us to be a bit more knowledgeable about what the world enjoys.

I hope that most true Americans are able to ignore her ignorance and truly stand up for our founding fathers and help us preserve our wonderful country.

Go USA.

And on another note congrats to making the round of 16. Keep it up gentlemen.

Middle class

First of all I have been fighting this bombastic running dialogue in my head all day about the middle east. It is maddening to read and watch our illustrious leaders play the blame game etc. In trying to keep my blog in a positive tone I will avoid this topic. (at least for now)

And talking about the middle class is not always roses either.

Lets get started though.

There isn't a middle class lobby, a middle class super pac, large amount of think tanks dedicated to our needs, or any other highly funded organization dedicated to whatever criminal political activity these organizations do for their constituencies. Yet the middle class has the potential to be the most dynamic political group in the country. To this day , bar none, the middle class could still rule this country. So why don't we?

Probably many reasons are applicable. Which one(s) though seem to get in the way? Is it complacency? Are we stuck in a rut? Are we waiting for some super hero candidate to run for President and solve all our problems such as Clinton for the Democrats or Reagan for the Republicans? Can the middle class overcome this diehard notion that we can find the next hero?

I don't know. Congress really is set up to be their best friend politically, but has been hijacked by special interests etc for their own benefit.

So what happens? Well I still have hope. (somedays). How do you find the inspiration to shake the middle class from their own morass?

I think some true grass roots members of the nascent tea party a few years ago thought they were on to something. Unfortunately it was stolen from them before it really got started. I don't know if the behind the scenes money and a few media leaders were in it from the first, but now the tea party has been taken over by them and far right extremists using it now to enforce their brand of rightist thinking to shove down our throats one unholy dogmatic piece of putrid politics under the guise of getting rid of all the bad guys in D.C. . A person wonders do the true grass roots members actually looking for something better know what hit them?

Yet

Yet

Yet

there is still so much potential for this country. It will take the middle class taking their rightful place in the forefront of American politics to achieve this goal. This country was designed for an educated electorate to find ways to advance the concept of moving man forward with a responsive flexible government that can adapt to an ever changing world. Right now though you hear the ball bouncing down the road and no one going to puck it up. We dropped the ball and we have no one to blame, but ourselves.

And actually we don't have to make changes in anything we just need to act. Can it be done through the current two party system, technically yes, but I'm not holding my breath. Will we accept the two parties are so bloated with their own hubris to be able to change, again I'm not holding my breath. Will another party or split like the tea party ever muster up enough support to make changes? We might hope.

So in this 2014 election year where does that leave us? Hopefully we can start realizing we are in charge of our destiny and make the right decisions to prove to the world a fledgling democracy is worth having around.

Our country has much to do to get our own act together and maybe the whole world isn't ready for democracy....yet, but we have a responsibility to ourselves and others to show self respect and build on what our founding fathers created.

It is technical, political, philosophical, ideological, and work to get it started. Time to get this party started.

Hot and humid almost summer night here in North Texas, World Cup is now in full swing, looks like a couple of teams have already clinched going to the next round. It is and always can be a great time to be alive, we just need to make it so.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day. I hope everyone is enjoying their day.

It is June here in North Texas, wonderfully hot and humid, great day for watching the World Cup and NBA finals from the comfort of your living room with the family. USA plays tomorrow though, would have been nice to get to see them. I am not sure they can get past group play. They have their work cut out for them. They have to win tomorrow with high goal differential and hope for an upset tie or win with either Germany or Portugal. Just don't see that happening unless something unusual happening such as Spain, losing 1-5. And Costa Rico upsetting Uruguay. Strange things can happen.

San Antonio should win tonight, but that word should is always dangerous. I just don't think Miami has the coaching to overcome. San Antonio is reminding the sports world coaching and being team players is worth more than just raw talent and athleticism. I just wish the press would give credit where credit is due instead of saying what's wrong with Miami.

I thought last night was a crazy thought.

Last night I stumbled through some dime store philosophy because I wanted to try and create some interest in choosing to do right. It came about in my head because of all the, mass shootings etc. I don't pretend I have any great answers to life, but I wanted to get a reader to realize doing good or working on solving problems is a constant battle we need to address and unfortunately you cannot let up Apathy is dangerous. Wow, then we had the events of today.

Most of you are probably aware an unknown tea party candidate beat Cantor in the Virginia primary. That is news, but what happened around that is crazy. Reading through posts/comments the tea party die hards are truly enamored with themselves. My issue is now: what is the true tea party agenda? Do they have one? How unified might it be?

I know many posters etc take extreme viewpoints on their posts. They might be a bit more brazen than in real life. It is just this one post I read that scared the crap out of me. I mean scared the crap out of me. The poster put it out there, an eight or nine point post for God and country and asked people to stand up for it.

There were some scary thoughts. He says that Jesus is love and peace, but talks about how we should balance our budget so we have money to invade Syria and Iran. He mentions something called the Iran project, whatever is that. He mentions we should just end all social programs even stating veterans should be proud to buy private insurance like the rest of us. As you know I believe we should balance our budget, but there is a way to do it and still do right for the people of our country. I have always said you cannot ignore problems or the true cost will be much greater.

It was just his complete God is the only way (and definitely his version of God). At one point he is arguing about all the unqualified voters and if we got rid of them then the Republicans will win. This is some serious "Mein Kamf" II kund a stuff. (sorry on spelling). So I wonder how truly representative is this person if the larger tea party or any group. I hope I am giving you gist of how far from God, country, and of course the constitution this person is.

And this is where my point last night becomes interesting to note again (okay I'm boasting), but I feel it needs to be said again: we cannot become apathetic, we have to feed the good wolf within ourselves. Failure to do such and act allows nuts like this poster to get an audience. You cannot ignore this insanity. There is much hate in our country and don't think it is all on the fringe. People are angry and lost, being apathetic and indifferent will doom us to a horrid repeat of history

How does the average Joe Republican learn to distinguish what he needs to decipher?

I believe in a responsive, responsible agenda, but I fear we are heading to the extremes. Vote independent and vote.
And if it sounds like I am trying to scare you a bit. I AM!

We really need to work hard to save us, our people, and our constitution, but we need to work The crazy and angry know no bounds and they have rich people trying to manipulate them into success.

Do I feel all tea party members are like the person described, no, but so much can be manipulated good people can make bad decisions.

Here's a crazy thought

There is no choice between good and evil.

There is no choice between right and wrong, whether it be at a theological/philosophical level or a young child first figuring out the choice about to be made can get you in trouble with Mommy, overall there is no choice between the two.

You can choose right. You can choose evil, but there is no choice between the two because you cannot ignore the choice or not make a choice.

There is a story about two wolves and in that story you choose to do things"feed" either the good wolf or "feed" the bad wolf. Which wolf you feed basically says what type of person you will be. Either way you made a choice.

The problem is you have to choose to feed the good wolf. That is the only choice. That is the choice you make in your conscious. You can say I am not making a choice today and not feed either wolf. Unfortunately you are feeding the bad wolf. Apathy, indifference, etc is food for the bad wolf, in fact nutritious food for the bad wolf.

And there is nothing you can do to feed the good wolf without consciously finding the food to feed the good wolf. You have to choose to feed the good wolf. You can choose to feed the bad wolf, but that is not a choice. That happens if you do not choose to feed the good wolf.

This sounds familiar in my head so I probably read this somewhere, sometime and it was probably better written. A person can wonder why is it so hard for us to do the right thing. It just takes more effort to make a choice, so we don't do it. That lack of choice lets us fail. Most people don't choose to be bad.Again though we only have one choicReligion and man make it all out to be some great war of good vs evil. You must choose sides. Yet the choice is more direct. Yes you have to hunt and gather everyday to find food for the good wolf. And somedays it may be hard to find food. And what really makes it hard is you must choose to find this food each day. Failure to make this choice feeds the bad wolf.

So in our day to day struggles to do good, you have your work cut out for you.

God isn't a great war to win, nor a deity that dictates how to live, but a choice. A long road to haul with many distractions along the way, but we must choose . We have been given the road map and quite frankly the path is not difficult. It is up to us to stay on the path, failing that is not a choice.

If you read my blog regularly you know I believe in the full bill of rights. The second amendment is just part of the package.

Do you cover a cancerous sore with a bandaid? Even if the bandaid has anti bacterial cream on it. It just doesn't do any good and worse hides from view the growing cancer.

I don't know how to get people who think gun control legislation will stop the insanity to realize all these mass shootings etc are a real deep and horrid cancer that needs real medicine and surgery. Gun control is a band aid that might make it feel like we did something, but it doesn't cure the cancer. I can agree with the need to do something and I understand the frustration of the gun legislation advocates, but it needs to be addressed in much different and productive ways. I wish there were a simple answer like gun control, there just isn't. Lets hope one day we can build the political energy to truly find the cure for the cancer tearing up our people and society.

interesting evening

Very interesting evening, very simple, but very interesting. The family enjoyed some very delicious salmon cooked at home and I watched two very unrelated movies., Or were they? Saw first and the English title is " Instructions not included", then second the more commercially known " Monuments Men".

Strange combination of movies, but after watching them I just have to post this question: why is it so hard for mankind to overcome ourselves? At times we excel so well. Life is what we make it. We need to feed the right wolf. Why isn't that choice easy to make?

Maybe one day we will, lets hope so. Don't be afraid of the moral right deep within your heart.

Love

The choice of wolf is a different reference than the first movie, but also seems related, see deep within your heart. The better half says I phrased it all better earlier.

Ok,,,,ok I'll comment

A few quick points from game one of the NBA series.

Actually I am a bit surprised that I haven't seen too many comments or posts on San Antonio's turnovers. Quite frankly if you would have told me SA would give the ball away all night and say Lebron would go out with an injury with 4 minutes left I still would have thought Miami would have won. Especially if you are the belief Miami is a great team. I know SA won so people are brushing by the point, but seriously I think this shows some serious for Miami, maybe a fluke, but something to watch. Great teams win when they create 20+ turnovers and Miami did create them. They should have been ahead by 20 when,Lebron went down. I will be honest I am not a fan of the Heat, but I was thinking they might have won this in six easy,,, but now it looks rough for the Heat. Age didn't seem to bother SA like I thought it would.

SA probably won't give it away like that again. Popp will be all over those turnovers.
And speaking of age wow Ray Allen with the old school down the lane dunk. Kuddos

And I was not going to be critical of Lebron. Cramps are a mean animal. You just can't run all over the place if your muscles aren't working. You can play through sprains and some pain, but you need those muscles. I was understanding till I heard a quote supposedly from Mr. James. Basically saying I am the most scrutinized athlete on the planet. And it maybe close to being somewhat true, but when you say it about yourself, you are just whining. There are many scrutinized athletes and people on this planet. If you want to be on the stage, scrutiny is part of your life. You have to ignore it. I have no walk in this game for this talk since I am part of the average Joe group, but if you want to tell people you are the best, start by being humble. More people will admire your achievements when you succeed. You don't get the flash, but the respect. Ie Tim Duncan.

Lets hope Lebron heals and we get some great games going forward. Go Mavs ha ha ha

And on a separate note I was harassed by "the man" this evening, but ended well, got off with a warning. Still the circumstances were shaky to begin with, our bill of rights and constitution really need us to speak out. The person was nice and respectful, but crossed a bill of rights line in my eye. Folks we are losing something wonderful if we don't get to work.

Hot and humid here in North Texas, but not as hot (in more ways than one) in good ole San Antone.
