This blog has evolved into a series of rough drafts of thoughts and ideas that inhabit my brain. And if you read my blog regularly you realize an editor is worth their weight in gold, unfortunately I have neither. Also I still talk about the Dallas area and what is going on around here.

Quick thought
As of this morning the news was saying the Republicans were not saying much about the Planned Parenthood shooting. I think there are a couple of reasons.
First though Senator Cruz did state something and should be given credit for realizing this was a tragedy no matter where it happens.
In my humble opinion one of the reasons some Republicans cannot deal with the Planned Parenthood shooting is because they are pro life for political reasons. The reason for being pro life is because you believe in dignity of life from conception to grave. And if you believe in the dignity of life you still value the live of someone you disagree with whether it is sports, politics, social issues etc. There seems to be a loss of this concept among many of the Republican candidates.
You can disagree with what Planned Parenthood is doing and yet speak up about the tragedy.
And in my humble opinion the second reason is the Republicans cannot come to grips with the idea of what is the second amendment versus the complete lack of responsibility for owning a gun. I have talked about mental illness before and that we need to address no gun ownership for people who are not capable of owning a gun. The problem is we need to be very very very very careful how we define this since we do not want to take away any rights on any person and start setting unnecessary precedents. And we do not know anything about the shooter so I need to be careful about bringing up mental illness, so the next issue is social isolation. We cannot tell people they have to be socially active, but we can reach out to people. We talk so much the values we the people should have, yet we talk so little about us as humans.
I guess the crux of my thought is maybe we should spend more time valuing our lives from the beginning. Or possibly if someone had taken the time many years ago to value Mr. Dear's life then maybe it would have been easier for him to make the distinction of how to express his disagreement with Planned Parenthood in a more rational and dignified manner than showing no value to his or other's lives even though his apparent argument he is saving baby's lives.
I hope no one politicizes this situation since Mr. Dear is a symptom of the problem of people not valuing everyone's life from conception to grave.
