Waiting to see on a few things

Well we all know there needs to be some decisions on the debt level and then spending again. At some point this whole country is going to need to sit down and do a realistic look at our budget and what are our priorities as a nation. We just cannot keep going month to month and expect things to eventually work out. And of course depending on your political leanings it is the other side’s fault

They say you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, yet lately I can only spit out vinegar. I am at the point where we just have to say the truth and the truth is the future isn’t looking too bright for the average Joe. Large swaths of this country are being negatively impacted by the lack of cohesion by our Congress and the rise of the far right. Yet we sit silently and at best run some comment somewhere or complain to a friend if anything at all. As you know I would like us to discard our current two political parties in favor of new ones if at least just to interject new energy into the country and hopefully more rational government for a while. Even that may need change down the road, but once you create something and it becomes positive others can feed off it to carry on something new. I can only hope.

So I am waiting to see if Mr. Ryan becomes Speaker, if so does the debt limit get increased and then what is the plan, and then what happens in December for a spending bill. I do not like some of Mr. Ryan’s proposals, but can he even get a radical conservative budget passed if the tea party doesn’t get anything. Strange times indeed.

Remember the phrase, when the going gets tough the tough get going, then there was “when the going gets weird the weird turn pro” (HST and still one of my favorites) but now are we to the point where when the going gets desperate, the disparate watch TV?

So we will watch and see what happens over the next few months and if anything really changes. Well I might try a change… been thinking of taking a different approach to things so watch for blogs titled “loss for words” so more to come.

And speaking of desperate, a very difficult reality is facing our neighbors to the South picking up after a massive storm. The remnants of which are supposedly headed this way. We will see, but definitely we need to be mindful and helpful where possible of those people caught up in Mother Nature’s wrath or at least her little Nino.

On a side note, I told you in a previous post about a fake Facebook page I created and to find it I said the birthdate for Matthew John was sometime in the 80’s. I changed it to 10/24/1929 for Black Thursday which was the beginning of the crash more popularly known as Black Tuesday 10/29/1929. Yep I agreed I was 86 years old. Well actually I am not and that age scared me, but what the heck. And now you know. Also there are a few pictures of the State Fair posted on it.

And finally on this rainy night I have my ultimate optimistic dream for the Mavericks this year. First everyone gets healthy quickly, yes we may struggle the first month or so, but by January everything is kicking in, McGee is coming on in the Center role, we are small ball monsters, by March no more injuries and the Mavericks are hitting their stride at the right time maybe still fighting for the 6th-8th playoff spot or wishful thinking a bit higher, but by the playoffs Dirk is fairly rested yet only the third or fourth highest scorer on the team, McGee is actually the center we dream he can be, our ball movement is picture perfect and we have enough defense to actually mean something. Yes folks, fans are allowed to see the cup half full.

Have a great and quiet evening and we will see what happens.
