I try to write anonymously so in giving this advice or
information it will be very generic. How I came about thinking of this post has
very specific reasons. Not from anyone in my family, but from another environment
that if I gave the details would give away too much information. And I already
am, yet here goes.
If you want to catch that special lottery winner of a
husband, make sure you leave nothing to chance. Do not postpone weddings, do
get property agreements on paper, promises are only promises, make sure
everyone HE KNOWS is aware of any “plans”, do not rely on your friends and not
because they are untrustworthy, but because it is easier to say that was all
her talking, “I never said anything. “
Or worse, he dies with you in the house holding nothing, no
paper, no jointly filed income taxes, nothing on his social media that says
anything except you were dating. Nothing, and low and behold there is a will
and you ain’t in it. Yep, rich people have family and families watch out for their
own, and no one is going to let that money out of the family. There are trusts,
wills, etc, and your name is nowhere in sight.
If a man isn’t on the same page as you and you are counting
on him being your wonderful Prince Charming. Get to work on everything else. I
guarantee if they have something, they already know what they want to do with
it. And if they want you to be part of it, they will tell you. If they aren’t
saying anything, you may need to keep your options open.
Cheers
