Twitter now X is a massive closed loop of dangerous insanity.

 

And in some cases that isn’t a big deal such as when your favorite sports team makes the Finals in their sport. All the fans get on there and post the same content over and over again all trying to one up each other in being the biggest fan. All fun and games and even makes “X” fun to read.

The Donald Trump closed loop though is extremely dangerous because it is not just a bunch of fans sharing tweeted high fives. I do not know how this has happened, but I am on some algorithm where many pro Trump posters are on my feed or home page or whatever. And their madness is beyond the pale. I certainly understand that when you are a fan, you want similar content, yet now we have unabashed lies being promulgated by other leaders in our country. There are Senators, Congress people, media personalities all jumping on a dangerous and self serving band wagon that has gone beyond being a fan or supporter of Trump. They are supporting dangerous speech and feeding into the loop at some type of hyper speed. It goes around once then magnifies, then goes around again and is even exponentially worse each time it goes around. They have passed any concept of discourse of talking about why they think Trump is the better candidate. It is now all about how only they can save America.

First of all really?!?!! No one can save America. We are too crazy, independent, self serving, selfish, arrogant and more to save, yet we have done well at times. Though to read their growing madness is downright scary.

The left verbiage is clueless and bad enough, yet most in the stare down the right from the tip of our nose thinking is just well clueless and elitist, but you can get over it.

What is being said in the Trump loops is taking on a new level of Dante’s inferno. We are being driven down a path we may never recover. And I have no idea how to break their loop. It is closed, it is tight, it is moving fast and it is destructive at its very core. And they all encourage each other to follow themselves with all sorts of you say vote for Trump and I will follow you. This is where much of magnification develops.

I knew once the verdict went down it would be overwhelming, yet it overwhelmed even my prognosis of disaster. I do not know what to say, except do not take what is going on in the Trump camp lightly because well they have the camp fires lit and are ready to do more than march. My only hope is it is more bravado than reality, yet when large sectors of what is supposed to be reasonable people are jumping into the pit for their own benefit it can only get worse from here.

No cheers tonight folks even with the Mavericks winning the Western Conference finals.

Save you life, don’t move to Dallas and more hodge podge of hodge podge

 

Right now we are without power while typing this, yet do not know when it will get posted. Once the power turns back on and our wifi comes up, I will post it. The headlines today say most power in North Texas will back by Friday. Today is Wednesday. I am presuming they are working in sections so who knows where the power comes back on first, but probably anything close to hospitals, fire stations etc will be repaired first. Also note the headline said most power so there are probably some low priority areas that are going to be hurting for a bit longer. (I found out later that the hardest hit areas are targeted for Saturday)

And it is Texas and it is hot and humid, so there is that.

And because of the power outages, there are significant amount of traffic lights out. And on Tuesday everyone was driving civilly, each person taking the proper turn as per four way stop rules with blinking traffic lights. It didn’t take long here in North Texas for the less civil to start doing their thing. People are just flying through the lights like nothing exists. I saw one wreck this morning where by the amount of damage someone was going at a good speed and hit someone in the intersection. And here we are day two I have seen way too many people just fly right through these intersections, even going around people properly stopped in one lane waiting there turn. One person who took their turn was almost hit by someone who tried to go around another person and just drove on through. Drivers here are bad enough on a good day and to see this lack of respect for others is just plain dangerous. So my advice stay away and save life, limb and property.

 

And I am wondering if 80 years of breathing leaded fuel exhaust has made people stupid. I know we have unleaded fuel now, but how much brain damage was caused to people who lived in high pollution environments or worked in close proximity to lead exhaust and spent years of their lives breathing it in. Just a thought as to why we have so much craziness now. And for the life of me I have never understood why people think breathing poison is okay.

Happy Memorial Day and a hodge podge of hodge podge

 

First of all I am as guilty as anyone about why we celebrate Memorial Day. I do know some who will spend the day in remembrance of our veterans, however we seem to forget what the day is all about. Many of us myself included will be with family, friends doing out door activities that have more to do with celebrating the first weekend of holiday summer than paying tribute to all those who gave their lives for our freedom. So I do want to take this moment to ask anyone reading this to stop and have a moment of silence remembering them especially any family members. Also do not forget to thank a veteran at all times, yet especially during this weekend for their service.

I do hope you get a chance to spend time with family and friends because I always believe the people in your life should be important to you. And if you get a chance at any gatherings you attend to ask the host to dedicate a moment of silence and prayer for our fellow citizens who sacrificed all for us to enjoy this and every weekend.

 

We were driving across Texas again for the 200^th time it feels like (and I don’t think I am exaggerating)  and it was getting to be sunset. This was right past Abilene headed east. And it really struck me the color of the sky or general ambience of twilight or just the general configuration of the light. I do not know how to describe it, yet looking around seemed somewhat rare. It was definitely still light out, but the color of the sky or the general looking through the atmosphere was so unique. It wasn’t hazy, yet the wind had been blowing the whole day so there was quite a bit of dust in the air which I think leant something to the color of the day as it came to a close. It was blue, but not sky blue, darker, but not dark blue. I love to drive so I have seen quite a bit in my travels, yet this was a very unique color that permeated around us. I even mentioned to the better half to look around since she had been reading at the moment. She acknowledged the uniqueness and went back to reading so maybe it isn’t that big of a deal, but for about 15-20 minutes before true dusk set in and after the glaring afternoon soon this moment seemed very special to me. I wish I was a color palette aficionado so I could give you a reference, however no such luck. It wasn’t bright, too light yet it was light and surreal. You could still see for a distance, but it the sun did not feel as if part of the picture. Anyway as life goes on and in your travels you run across moments like I had. It never hurts to have a few moments so unique in your life that it makes you want to drink it all in and keep it in your memory.

 

Okay I am too the point where I do not know what to say about the election. I fear Trump may win, not because he is the better candidate, but because the economy is hurting people much worse than Biden realizes. People are beginning to feel the ravages of inflation to the degree where they do not want to spend or are having trouble paying their bills. It is subtle now in the national press, but out in the heartland people are hurting. You can see it in people’s eyes when they shop. They are still shopping which surprises me. This maybe because they do not want to deal with the reality of where they stand financially I do not know. Yet if you look closely you can tell the stressors are developing. Trump was President at a good time until the pandemic came along and people remember that. What the do not remember is he had nothing to do with it. And yet these same people are blaming Biden for the current problems. There are too many intricacies involved with our economy for any President to have immediate impact on the economy. Sure there are some things they can do, or try to use political power to get Congress or the Fed to enact laws or policies that have some effect on the economy, but the nuances of that are too much for many people. What affects the pocket book is very straight forward to the average Joe. Can I eat and can I pay my bills? And can I get what I want when I want it? I won’t get into the depths of people need to plan for their day to day lives along with their future, but in our immediate gratification culture when the dollar gets stretched, someone  needs to be blamed and Biden is starting to be the end result of the blame game.

Honestly I am not a fan of how he is handling the economy, but Trump still scares the crap out of me. And worst of all, people are forgetting he will kowtow to the uber rich in any real policy he invokes as President such as more tax breaks for them than you. I ask how many people remember Trump’s tax cuts expire for most of the country in the next couple of years except for corporations and the ultra rich. And he just made a call out for oil companies to give him a billion and he will throw away Biden’s green energy initiatives. And none of the people that support him realize in the long run how much this will hurt them. I am not going to vote for Biden or Trump, someone needs to do something different and fast or are worst nightmares are beginning to materialize. I did see a headline where the Libertarians booed him at their convention so it does make you wonder if he has the popularity to win over everyone not a Democrat or Republican to obtain enough votes to win, yet if Biden doesn’t get credit for doing something for the economy soon, Trump may win votes due to general ignorance.

 

And talking about general policy issues, I do not think I ever finished my 2024 platform for a fictious third party or independent bid. I need to go back and revisit where I left off and finish that up if needed.

 

And yes sports fans it is fun being in Dallas right now. Today is Sunday May 26 and the Stars won last night to even up their series. And even though headed on the road, they still have a good chance to move on. And the Mavericks play at home tonight after taking two in Minnesota.  And there are quite a few Mavericks fans over celebrating if you ask me. We are one minute away from being down two games to zero and in dire straights. I certainly hope the Mavericks come out with serious intensity tonight and play like they are down two games because momentum is fickle and we do not want to give any to the Timberwolves. It is so hard for the players game after game once you start getting this close to a championship. Fans are going crazy expecting their team to win, yet for the players every step you get closer to the dream, the next won is harder to make. So sure being up two games sounds great, but winning that third then fourth are twice as hard. The intensity and the strength needed to win the next game grows exponentially. The players and teams that understand this are the ones that win the championships. I hope the Mavericks and the Stars are at that point right now.

 

Time for dinner and to start gearing up for those said games.

Gotta love that self reflection (say what?) Or what is it?

 

I am not young anymore and I am reminded every time I look in a mirror and see my old scowling face.  Yet for some reason while walking the dog late last night I felt like I was looking at the world from young eyes. This caught me completely off guard.

I have to admit this was strange. And I cannot completely describe what I was feeling. Everything felt the same, my legs hurt, my neck hurt, I was tired for no reason, you know all that old people stuff, but there it was for a few moments while walking the world seemed to appear to me fresh. It was the same path I take every night walking the dog, nothing was different. It was late so it was dark, so no bright sunshine to cheer me up. For the life of me I cannot comprehend what caused me to feel this way. And do not get me wrong I was thoroughly happy to experience whatever I was feeling. It wasn’t just the optimism of youth, it had a unique freshness to it. There are some minor hills we have climbed lately in our lives, but we were hoping for them and they came to fruition, but this felt beyond that.

It didn’t immediately feel like an earth shattering miracle or major change had happened internally, yet it was powerful all the same, but a subtle power. I am sitting here trying to figure out if I am still feeling it while I am typing today. I do not know and I think it goes back to the subtleness of it all. It wasn’t a bull rush of feeling. It came up suddenly, but it took a moment to grasp I was feeling it like it permeated me all at once, but my comprehension was slow to understand it.

And yes I am slow to understand it. I thought about it for the rest of the night. I am thinking about it today so much that I am trying to write something down to get a clearer picture and yet to no avail.

It is the most maddening and I fear fleeting feeling. And maybe I started thinking about it too soon and should have just relished in the moment. Who knows? A person doesn’t want to have this feeling and lose it. Whether I am still feeling it or it is just resonating from last night I cannot tell. And that should give you an ounce of idea of how strong this hit me. And hit me is not the proper verbiage, the prior idea of it permeating through me is a better descriptor, but it did hit me in the sense that I wasn’t expecting anything like it or can comprehend it. Again who knows, yet I hope somehow this fresh look at the world seeps in deep and stays with me for a long time. I type that and will still clarify. I do not want you to think it is a fresh outlook or a youthful feeling, but a lens of seeing the world freshly.  And yet that does not do what I am trying to describe justice. For some reason that I cannot describe well I felt the world different last night and the closest I can come is a feeling of fresh, youthful vision, headed for something new, even a tad of calmness, an indescribable outlook of something emanating from me as I walked. And it is driving me crazy I cannot put it into words because that might help me to understand it.

For whatever it was or for whatever reason I am glad I felt it and I hope it happens again or is now buried within me to enjoy as I continue this journey through life.

Now to going back to my normal old self telling you to get off my lawn.

Two thoughts on flying:

First if you are on a plane with a hundred or so random strangers someone is going to hiss you off. It is inevitable. And unless their attitude needs an air marshal to handle the situation you need to get over yourself. Yes babies are going to cry, that person next to you or behind you is going to be a constant chatter box, or you are stuck on the aisle and someone keeps getting up or whatever happens it isn’t the end of the world. Bring noise canceling headphones or offer to change seats or just sit quietly and read, but do not expect it to be perfect. It won’t be perfect and it will be less aggravating if you go with the flow. Or get in your car and drive.

I was thinking about the issues airlines are having with some people who do not fit into their average seat. I think they need to give up the ghost and dedicate two rows of having just two seats on one side. I don’t care so it can be in the middle or the back of the plane or wherever, but where they have three seats on each side of the aisle they need to dedicate two rows of two seats on each side that they allow people to change to if they are 6’5” or larger or over 250lbs or whatever guidelines they want to make. The gate person can make changes if anyone comes up to them before boarding, otherwise there may be some lucky people with a bit more legroom than anyone else if not claimed. Or yes the flight attendants can move people as needed and people cannot complain. I know no one will like this thought, but I don’t care. It is actually the right thing to do no matter how difficult to implement.  And if you are able to fit into an average seat yes you should be glad they do this or do you really want to have someone stuff themselves into the seat next to you and make you sit against the opposing side armrest the whole trip. Think about it.

So yes air travel can be a pain in the back end if you so choose, so better to make the best of it and pray you land safely.

And yes I have flown recently and fortunately none of these inconveniences happened to me, but I did think about it while sitting there waiting for the turbulence to stop.

The Supreme Court and Judge Aileen Cannon are disenfranchising millions of voters.

 

Okay I originally had this idea last week, then got busy then was out of pocket for a few days so now trying to recreate my thoughts. Also I was a bit more hissed off at the time. And since I have been out of pocket I do not know what else has been written about the subject, yet here I go.

To the point though, the more Trump’s trials are delayed the more people who want to know if he is guilty or not to vote are being screwed.  The immunity question needs to be addressed and yes I know I wrote the Supreme Court cannot fully answer this question, much less in one opinion or that was the gist of what I wrote, yet they do need to do something. And of course Judge Cannon’ actions are a train wreck of any type of justice. The case she is presiding over is of utmost importance. How can we as voters know whether to vote for Trump or not if we do not have a good idea of what he did with these security documents. I am keeping this simple to protect Trump’s right to a fair trial, but a verdict needs to be found. The appeals will likely go on forever, but at some point people need to hear the evidence in a public forum and hear what twelve people have to say about the matter.

There are millions of people who are mulling on their vote. There are die hard Biden supporters, die hard Trump supporters, yet there are independents and Republicans who aren’t sure if they feel comfortable voting for a criminal who really need to know. Delaying any verdicts on Trump’s cases is more than just leaving voters uninformed, it is depriving people of fundamental decision making in casting a vote. Voters have a right to know who they are voting for and in this case it is about the man and his character. If he is innocent we need to know and if he is guilty we need to know, but to leave this until after the election is taking away voters’ rights to know and disenfranchising their ability to vote in good conscience.

Having people vote on hunches and guesses on matters so important is a travesty and thoroughly weakens one of the three tiers of our government. Who has faith in a system where part of it sits on its hands on some of the most important information that affects that system? Already there is little trust in Congress and the Supreme Court, so why sit on this information and leave so many people with doubts as to what is the truth. Once a decision is made then people can weigh their thoughts on the decision and what was brought forth by the prosecution and defense to determine how they will vote or in some cases deciding not to vote. Doing nothing is a failure of our government specifically the 1/3 to fulfill their duty to govern.

I know Trump wants to delay it all, but unfortunately for him, this is not just a case about him since he is running for public office. If he were an individual facing court cases then he could decide to pursue his right to a speedy trial or not, but he made a decision to run so these cases need to be adjudicated before the election or millions of voters who want to do the right thing are being held hostage to the same system they need to work so they can make a decision for good or bad.

Heck in a democracy if you want a dictatorship you have a right to try and vote one in, but no one has the right to withhold information that can affect what a voter needs to know about a candidate. Right now our Courts are doing this to the detriment of our democracy and we are not getting the choice we deserve.

The Supreme Court and Judge Aileen Cannon need to be held responsible for their failure to do their job.
