Problem solved Mr. President elect, problem solved.

I know there is much on your mind nowadays so let’s brush all that under the rug since you have won the election. No need to fret about anything, just gather together the troops, VP elect Vance, a few top Congressional leaders and head out and golf your way through America.

You can tour all the major golf courses, then once you have done that hit the best country club course for each major city. And maybe for the really big cities hit the top two or three.

Oh you might have to sign a bill or two each year to fund the budget, but hey no worries. The Senate and House can continue to produce continuing resolutions, leaving the budget as it is now. No worries about how much to give each agency, no listening to squabbles from Congress about all their pet projects, just keep the budget as it is for the next four years then let the next administration deal with the headaches.

As you say everyone loves you abroad so need to get tangled up in any new wars, let NATO and everyone else deal with Russia and Iran, just stay out of it all. The next administration can pick up where Biden left off and deal with Russia. Israel will take care of Iran and I know you won’t fret about what really happens to Israel as long as Saudi Arabia keeps funding all your most crazy business adventures.

So pack up, get new sets of clubs to try out and hit the links for the next four years. You won so nothing left to prove. Happy trails.

Well I stand corrected.

I said many moons ago back when it was Biden v Trump, that if either party choose someone else the new candidate would win. I forgot how clueless are the elitists in the Democrat party. That was stupid. And apparently there is some discussion about “mainstream” media being completely wrong about what was going to happen and we need to re-evaluate the “mainstream” media. The problem is they are part of the elitist thinking of the Democrat party. They just need to become more unbiased going forward, but that topic is for another day.

And another point which I made in an offhand manner somewhere else was that the Democrats were relying way too much on one issue, which was the abortion issue. I wish I had said it here, but I didn’t.

I still do not trust Trump. I still am worried. One thing that really burns my chops is that people will say you are not conservative if you do not support Trump. That is just wrong and it goes along with the massive pandering the Republican Party does for Trump. I am conservative and a populist with some of my policy ideas. Trump is neither and never has been. He gives lip service to what people want to hear and everyone is right including the mainstream media that he better understood what the people want to hear than anyone else. To me though he still won’t accomplish anything from his verbiage except what his allies in Congress will produce. And what they want is just as bad as what he wants, which is complete power. They will feed off each other for the next few years. And when the deal goes down, and it will do down, Trump will find a way to blame someone else and unfortunately he may get away with that too.

Two things this Trump victory shows to me. First is the educational decline I rant and rave about all the time is real.

Second is the moral decline this country has succumbed to allow Trump to have won. I have said before in multiple places that bad policy is easier to overcome than bad government. We are about to see what is bad government. Let’s hope we can find away out of it down the road. And the irony is the people who scream the most about how our country is in moral decline right now are the biggest reason we are in moral decline. You cannot accept someone as morally corrupt as Trump as your leader and say you have the moral high ground. That just doesn’t fly, but we are so far down the twentieth level of hell, no one sees it right now.

Also when the deal does go down, all the people that voted for Trump are going to be sitting there thinking what just happened. Again the education decline is obvious and will allow Trump to walk away without any consequences for what is doing to this country. Some of it by omission since it will let his allies do what they want as long as it doesn’t affect him personally.

Well there is one chance at an out and I wonder, does Trump have a desire to think about a legacy. Who knows, yet if he does maybe some of the madness that could  go down Trump may put a hold. I doubt it,  but let’s hold out hope.

Otherwise if much of Trump’s verbal rants that he calls policy comes to fruition, the vast majority of people who voted for Trump are about to get screwed.

And to reiterate a point, the Democrats are clueless and this is at all levels. The State Party was sending out an excessive amounts of literature that was horrible political strategy. Two things, it hammered to hard on their one issue campaign and they sent so many mailers that never said the name of the candidate they were supporting and plastered the name of the Republican candidate all over their mailers. They need help badly, but since I do not like their public policies they just won’t get it from me except for the occasional critique here in my blog of what they are doing.

Well I am deciding either to go hide somewhere or become even more of a vocal critic of Trump’s administration. I do not know right now. I am a bit worried, but I am also concerned what his policies could do to this country. My first hope is he just doesn’t care and just wants to end his days playing golf and the Trump Republicans in Congress screw up because they cannot make up their minds how they want to screw everyone over so they can maintain power. Hopefully enough goes down that in two years we see saw back to the clueless Democrats and slow some of the madness down.

Which leads me to what I keep telling y’all, WE NEED NEW PARTIES.

An open letter to the President of Mexico, the leaders of the Cartels and the Administration of the United States

Greetings,

In a letter such as this it may be hard to find an opening, how do we get everyone’s attention. I think it can be much simpler.

Mexico is a beautiful country. Her people are wonderous, hard working, enjoy life, enjoy each other and this is always demonstrated in her music, her art, her cuisine and so much of a vibrant beauty in what the people bring to their lives. I know this because I have crossed the border, la frontera, so many times either from the Rio Grande Valley as a child, travel down the Baja or in El Paso as an adult. It was always a joy to go to the markets, go eat or even visit family and friends. The conversations were always passionate and fun devoid of antagonism towards others. Could we have drank a shot or two too much of tequila? A couple of times maybe, yet in the end all was well.

And like any country Mexico is not perfect.

Maybe it is time to find a solution that allows the people of Mexico to flourish because currently no one is winning and the people of Mexico are losing. People no matter where they are in the world need to be able to enjoy life without fear. Too much of the world is under fear right now, yet in this moment let us try to find one solution to one challenge to allow so many a new life.

And to find this answer we need to look beyond the current mindset of crime and punishment.

I do not want to get into a deep dive into the nuts and bolts of new policy, rather outline a different mentality to rid this weight on Mexico’s people of oppression, death, corruption that the American drug trade has put on this country. I do have some ideas for a way forward, yet for now, I just want to offer a philosophical solution to get started.

And responsibly we do need to prosecute some form of responsibility for the lost lives of many innocent people, so I am not suggesting any type of blanket amnesty, yet a unique version of an amnesty proposal is part of the deal.

Many of the people involved have invested time and money in entrepreneurial enterprises, albeit illegal and dangerous ones. So the proposal includes the concept that sins of the fathersf will not affect what the children can do moving forward. This includes the resources the sins produced are reinvested into legitimate businesses that grow Mexico’s economy. And the possibilities are endless here.

If there is a way to allow a new generation to move into areas where investment is needed, they could use the resources productively as both part of the prosecution and change the country needs.

Will this make everyone happy? Probably no one, yet right now, the current situation is doing harm at so many levels there is no good in it for Mexico.

The possible benefits are economic growth, lives gained, families reunited, more responsible jobs, using resources for infrastructure needs instead of law enforcement and I could go on. Some indirect benefits are resources by both the Mexico and the United States could be redirected to a stronger border policy for both countries that is productive not antagonistic, innocent lives on both sides of the border are spared, trade is more productive and again this list is not comprehensive.

As a Christian and I know not all are Christians, I see certain aspects of Christianity helping though and that is forgiveness and repentance. The people of Mexico could forgive if the crimes against them stop and going forward resources are used to better their lives. The repentance is some will need to account for their actions and yet this can be viewed with reason if the direct individuals accept a new fate and allow themselves to isolate themselves from the rest of society all the while their children and descendants can go forward with their own lives free of retribution. It is a trade off for certain people to free themselves of a life constantly on the run and in violence where even they do not have any freedoms now anyway. They may have a certain “power” over some areas or groups, but they are not truly free. They could agree together to allow a new life for their families and even have some say in what businesses their children invest to begin. Yet overall though they would need to accept a new role of quiet solitude to allow their later years to be lived in repentance and reflection.

The possibility of criticism for an idea like this is immeasurable since it is wrought with the concept of what some people call underserving individuals a way to avoid consequences these same people prefer for their illlicit actions. And I fall under that camp somedays. Yet all I see is the problem is getting worse not better no matter how much money is given to law enforcement on both sides of the border. People die daily in both countries, many are totally innocent of the events this idea hopes to overcome. So if you want to criticize come with a better idea.

There is so much more to implement a proposal such as this and there will need to be buy in that will have to come with a word no one likes in this situation and that is trust. All sides will have to take that infamous leap of faith to make an idea like this even come close to working. Yet standing pat on the current situation gives us nothing. Trust is difficult to achieve sometimes on a one to one basis and to build it with so many moving pieces may seem impossible. Rather I say create steps, take them one at a time to give every player some confidence they can move to the next step. And one day hopefully soon, people can wake up in their town or village, go to work, spend the holidays with their families out in the open, visit and tour the country, have faith in the people around them and enjoy what all of us should be able to enjoy and that is this wonderful life we have been given.

They lie, they lie, they lie and they don’t care about you

It is not healthy to be as mad as I am before breakfast. It is not emotionally, physically, mentally and what ever else it shouldn’t be with too much coffee and no food. I finally did get something to eat, but still not good.

And I am talking about both the corporate and political world. Actually with the corporate world it is pretty straightforward, but with the political world it is much more encompassing.  And yes it is the political party machines, they are worthless to the average American citizen even though the citizens do not realize it yet, and worse they treat you like pieces of fecal matter with impunity.

Anyway I am so mad I cannot think. I have a blinding headache and I mean blinding like I need to shut my eyes to control the pain and blinding like rage against the machine with apologies to the band.

I am going to do a podcast and write something on this because it is beyond the pale well the political aspect is beyond the pale, the corporate anger is pretty straight forward. A bit of a nuisance, but still just too much expectation that I want to make them happy instead of them making me happy as the customer. And on a side note, I did something different this morning way out of my comfort zone, but in speaking with people involved they were just as ticked off as I was about the corporate intrusion.

Right now I am too angry to think, much less put together anything that makes sense. I had to drive around this morning and my brain went off on so many tangents I cannot begin to function at the moment.

Also I have functional things to do today that are on a time deadline so need to complete those tasks first anyway. It is for something that helps people out in the long run especially kiddos so maybe doing something positive will alleviate my anger a tad.

There will be at least a podcast and maybe I will write something productive because the reason for my anger needs to be addressed. I cannot believe more people are not screaming to high heaven today, but maybe I just haven’t run across anything yet. I will keep my eyes open and hopefully I can find some solace in others discussing the same topic.

And as you know I am radically independent, a conservative, and a populist, but I think anyone and everyone should be as upset as am I. The abuse of seniors or taking advantage of them is just wrong.

Vote Independent or third party, why?

From MSN article by Andrew Lisa: “Even so, the rich get richer with every presidential cycle while the middle class continues shrinking.”

This may seem like it could be taken out of context. It wasn’t, this is from an article talking about what Trump will do for the middle class, by the way, the article goes on to say:

“A second Trump presidency could affect middle-class finances through potential tax policy changes,” Pace said. “During Trump’s first term, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017 offered limited benefits to middle-income earners and more extensive benefits to the wealthy and corporations. Similar future policies could result in minimal tax relief for the middle class and possibly larger budget deficits, raising concerns about future tax increases or cuts in essential services.”

In assessing the impact of the TCJA, the nonprofit, nonpartisan Brookings Institute wrote, “The 2017 tax law doesn’t help the middle class. The benefits of the law tilt toward the well-off both now and in the future, according to the distributional analysis of the Tax Policy Center. By 2027, benefits of the tax law flow entirely to the rich.”

Yet don’t think I am supporting Harris. Go back to the opening sentence… the rich get richer in every presidential cycle…  the author may tend towards Harris, but the reality is for the last forty years or more the wealth gap has been shrinking, yet the stock market has gone up. So why does the gap shrink;  because no one in either party actually fights for the middle class. Sure every now and then a bill gets passed that sounds good, but overall the working and middle class have absolutely no representation in Congress.

Why? Because the Democrat and Republican party has only one goal, getting elected and re-elected. So you hear quite a bit of talk every election cycle, but by the next cycle you need to hear the same promises again because nothing was done for you.

Tired of it yet? Obviously I have been for quite some time which is one reason I keep beating the same ole horse all the time, but hopefully one day people’s eyes and ears will open.

And Trump will raise your taxes indirectly with tariffs and Harris will do what all Democrats do raise your taxes to pay for benefits our government can no longer afford.

To me our government could afford the benefits by making the distribution more efficient, but don’t expect a Democrat to figure that out. Oh by the way, Musk’s efficiency idea though is not what I am talking about. He will just shut down the government and shift all benefits to a few billionaires and you will be holding one giant bag of nothing costing you a fortune.

People will say you are wasting your vote if you vote third party or independent. Ask them when wasn’t my vote wasted. Everything is getting worse, wealth gap, quality of education, social security needs work (fixable, but nobody in Congress wants to do what is best for you) and so on.

A republican or democrat will tell you some inkling of an idea or fact that sounds like they did something, but again the slow deterioration is still happening. If either was actually doing something, then things would change. And then they will say, it is not us, it is the other side. That should tell you right away, that the blame game is part of the problem. If people really wanted to do something they would overcome the other side and do better.

So be bold, be strong and vote for your interests. Find a third party or independent candidate and vote for them. Sure they probably won’t win, but once you make the first step it is easier to start looking for something better. And once we get out of the mindset we must vote for the duopoly or the lesser of two evils others will see it can be done. Just think if third parties receive larger numbers then other people will notice and eventually people with viable ideas will feel that might have a chance to make changes.

I will be writing in a name for President and the Senate race in Texas. And both are approved write in candidates so my votes should be counted. I am going to go over my precinct results to make sure at least one for each and possibly two since the better half has come over to the force and no longer votes for the dark side. Research all your available options in your area and see which of those come closest to your values. No one may be perfect, but seriously if you are holding your nose and voting for someone you don’t like because you feel you have to, start researching.

And don’t let people say the other side is so bad you have to vote for my side, stop right there, wish them well and go back to researching. The hyperbole is insane and not real and this election is going to be close so voting outside the duopoly will make a bigger impact because both parties will realize you have learned they don’t care a damn about you, but themselves.

VOTE!  And check your precinct results, because you would have a very real and serious case if you know who you voted for and nothing shows.

Cheers

Finally someone gets it

I saw this cartoon and I wanted to share:

Basically it says why we need new parties better than me or hopefully it gets through to people better than me.

The Trouble with Tribbles or Trump supporters

I like this title, but it probably gives off the wrong impression and of course many apologies to the Star Trek writers and fandom.

I read The Dispatch and in it Jonah Goldberg writes something he calls the G- Files. This is not about any of his G files, but rather one comment made about his latest G File.

The comment was “gratitude is the opposite of victimhood”. I upvoted the comment, yet I do not completely agree with it, yet it has quite a bit of legs. Yet, it got me to thinking about Trump, he never really expresses gratitude for anything and as we all know he plays the victim to a fake news academy award winning performance.

And then I thought this must be what is going on with his supporters. And then I realized, no that is not the problem. Sure there are some people that are obnoxious, or despicable, but that is not the vast majority of Trump supporters. Which makes it even harder to understand why they are Trump supporters if generally they are decent people. And many are very decent.

I have been to a Trump rally. It was quite an experience. Or maybe I should say I walked through a Trump rally and stayed for a bit. The rally crowd was so large they were broadcasting his speech on screens outside the building he was speaking. I walked through the crowd that was outside and watched some of his speech on the screen. Now this was one of his earlier rallies not a 2024 event.

And quite frankly they were not hate filled lunatics yelling and screaming all sorts of madness except being boisterous and supportive of his comments and his gloating about only he can make America great. Yes they did give enthusiastic approval of all that, but generally they were a normal crowd enjoying the moment.

I spoke to many of them as I walked by and they were cordial, excited about being there, very supportive of Trump, yet most did not try to force me into anything or say I must support Trump or go away. They were neat. Trash was not strewn all over the place even though it was very crowded and they had been there for hours. Many had been to local restaurants and had brought their food there to eat. Trashcans were full and overflowing, but it was at the trashcans, not up and down the streets.

When Trump spoke there was much noise, yet just yelling in support of some sordid comment, laughing at his attempt’s at humor (which by the way is one problem with Trump, he has no sense of humor, not an ounce) and his statements on how he was going to make things great.

So what gives? How can so many decent people like such a person as Trump? He represents everything that goes against what makes this country great. Sure a few of the things he says sound like he is out to save America, but in reality, they are either empty promises or nothing more than personal bluster. There is also the so called Trump being Trump comments that his supporters try to gloss over, but overall they buy into the idea of what they see as him. It is like they have created an AI version of him that fits into what they want him to be even though when the curtains are pulled back, it gets extremely ugly.

And by no means do I think this is an original opinion. I have read and probably you have too many versions of this same thought about him. Yet it is his supporters that are misunderstood.

There was an article recently that I think was titled Why the elites don’t get the Trump supporters or something close to that. The title seriously intrigued me, but the article ran through so many LeMans S curves it went off the track and never made the long straight away for an actual point. You will have to excuse me, I still have a desire or hankering to see the LeMans 24 hour car race and for some reason it bounced into my head recently so I needed to get that reference out before it drove me crazy.

Anyway anyway anway, back to the point, the elites on the left and right don’t get the Trump supporters and they miss by a long shot.  H. Clinton infamously called them deplorables. Probably one of the most idiotic lines ever said in a Presidential campaign. Yet she is a compete leftist elitist that is clueless as they come. This statement is just the crowning jewel of her cluelessness.

So what to believe about Trump supporters and I almost made the mistake they are like the people who go to the non-denominational  mega churches to feel good. They go to watch some person on the stage who preach a variety of feel good messages, that try to relate to being a Christian, but they are all there to get their weekly dose of religion and then go about their lives. Yet there is no equivalency here for what Trump supporters are looking. Sure some or many may go to these churches, but it is not the same message. Well the prosperity gospels and Trump’s message may have some of the same ring to it, but it is not completely the same.

So what it is it we don’t get. And that is they are just like us, they go to work, they have families they care about, they have fears (unfortunately amplified and creatively exasperated by Trump), and they want a good future.

In Mr. Goldberg’s G file he talks about the difference between the utopians and the eutopians, now the Trump supporters are neither, they do fit closer to the eutopians as that they are working from the ground up. I hate to say this, but many of the regular supporters are not generally creative or large problem solving people. They are hard workers, but the rely on complaints to deal with problems not creative solutions, yet there are many on the left and non Trump supporting right that are the same way.  And there is way more to Mr. Goldberg’s point in his article than this reference gives a compliment to, but you have to understand there is a similar comparison between the elitists and their view of the world as one side versus the Trump supporters and their view of the world. The elitists want us to believe they know what to do and we should listen to them at all costs, while the Trump supporters are looking to find a better way for their lives. They are just incapable like most of us of finding the solutions so they rely on someone like Trump to become their hero to solve their problems, from their perspective or trying to build something better from the bottom up which is what they are looking.

After decades of the elites telling them they do not matter, they see their top down approach as hateful, disrespectful, and unconcerned with them so when Trump said hey guys I understand you, I am here to save you, it sounds good. It was a breath of fresh air in their world.

Unfortunately, Trump tapped into this need for someone to respect and understand them while all the while lying through his teeth to them that they cannot see beyond the proverbial curtain at all.

The Trump supporters are not the enemy or deplorable, they are tired angry and sick of being neglected by elites. So why are the elites so shocked he has so many supporters. The elites just need to look into a mirror and realize their visions were never Trump’s supporters visions or even needs and listen to who they are and act accordingly.

I fear it may be too late or at best may take a long time to bring his supporters back into the fold, but if they do come back, we will need to do a much better job of being eutopians and create some bottom up populist public policy to reinvigorate them into America’s greatness.

I don’t know. I don’t know. What are we doing?

Outside of diehard Trump supporters and desperate Harris supporters, most people in this country are starting to realize neither candidate really doesn’t know what to do.

And political pundits to comedians are starting to call them out on this scary fact. Most people talk about the economic policies, yet I don’t think either has a plan for Iran except hope Israel finds a way to crawl out of it’s quagmire.

And many people in this country really didn’t want Biden v. Trump round 2, but that was what we were headed for until Biden stood on national TV and had the most momentous cognitive collapse possible for someone on a public stage. I am on record saying if either party chooses someone else over the two old guys that person would win in a landslide, well I guess I was wrong since Harris is barely hanging on.

People are still struggling and unfortunately Biden now Harris gets blamed, but it isn’t all their fault, but right now neither Harris nor Trump have a realistic plan for the mass majority of this country no matter their party affiliation.

And an even more bonkers problem is most Americans would vote for a Republican even though it goes completely against their interest. To this day I have no idea why so many people in the middle class think the Republican Party thinks positively about them. They have been wealth and big business for decades and have made no bones about it. None! Yet so many people wanting to be popular in the country club and PTA back their own financial downfall. Sure a few of these people are successful, but take a way their profession and they would be sucking eggs. The entire platform for Republicans has been to give to the rich and let the rest figure it out. And again people would stand in line to vote for a valid any valid Republican candidate not named Trump against Harris. She would be swamped similar to a Nixon McGovern rematch.

And what is worse is the Democrats have been surviving on dynamic personalities for decades, not what the public believes in going back to Kennedy, (won by a hair), Clinton who was a big hit with the ladies for some reason and then Obama. And to be fair to Clinton, he did sound convincing when he told Bush the elder, it’s the economy stupid and most Americans agreed since we were in a mild recession at the time.

Now we are teetering on some really unknown financial circumstances that could go either way. We actually could crawl out of the inflation madness and with interest rate cuts keep growth alive for a while. Or the middle east war ramps up and Putin does something even crazier than attacking Ukraine and all hades breaks loose.

And many Americans know deep down that neither candidate is the best possible answer for another pandemic style disaster.

So you have a woman that hasn’t proven her meddle yet and Trump who some people believe whole heartedly would solve all our problems just by being Trump versus many other Americans who know giving Trump the keys to the kingdom is flushing them down the toilet and into the swamp called Washington D.C. and who knows what other septic tank is lying around.

So we are either a close race to the wire, or a mild flub by either candidate could tilt the election so fast most of our heads would spin. Trump is just one very public cognitive hiccup (and I don’t mean his usual vitriol) away from sending every Republican looking for cover and Harris is just one statement away from completely losing everyone’s confidence she can do anything.

And by the last paragraph you are realizing we are avoiding negatives not looking to vote FOR someone. Outside of the Trump acolytes (my apologies to Disney) who are voting for Trump even though for all the wrong reasons, when was the last time you voted for someone with desire or purpose or faith or confidence. Stop, be honest, you just haven’t have you. For decades now, it has been the lesser or two evils, or towing the party line, or well we could do worse instead of saying man I want this person. A few people will still remember the Obama feel good moment, but he was going against H. Clinton in the primaries who people never liked and an economic disaster attributed to the Republicans in the general election. Our saving grace was he is intelligent so he was able to ride the interest rate cuts the rich took and ran with since they were the only ones with money, but it did trickle down to consumers over time and he left an economy that Trump ran with and took full credit for even though he did absolutely squat to get us there. The tax cuts were just gravy for rich people, not a real economic growth generator.

And after all this time the Democrats have no strong candidates waiting in the wings and the Republicans squandered all theirs with the Trump obsession. How many people truly believe, Vance or DeSantis or Hawley or Cotton is going to carry the Trump acolytes in the future? The blew Haley away, they passed gas on L. Cheney and Kinzinger, never liked Christie to begin with, Romney faltered too much in 2012 and all the people Trump fired that actually were competent people now leave the Republicans with no one to actually produce a manageable government. If Trump wins we are going to get the worst of the worse, sorry folks no Men in Black to save us from these aliens.

One of the “X” acolytes of Trump put up a post that showed Trump Vance Musk V. Ramaswamy and a couple of others and asked are you ready for this team to run the country. Seriously? Could you not find a worse group of people to run any government. People have lost their mind.

Anyway no one wants Trump or Harris, most people are voting for or against Trump. Harris might win if she can convince enough fence sitters that she might be able to handle the job, but that is a harder convince job than the Harris campaign team wants you to believe.

The economic questions are bad enough, the border and immigration need Congressional support to get anything done, but does anyone with an ounce of sanity want either to address the potential foreign policy nightmares brewing.

What are we doing?

And yet the duopoly keeps chugging along. And as mentioned before House Speaker Johnson said the truth, when he said not passing the CR forty five days before election was political malpractice, or another words doing their job and passing a full budget was too hard, but it was better to kick the can down the road so they could get elected. Folks that wasn’t political malpractice that was governing malpractice, you know, their job!

No cheers tonight or in the near future, but much tequila is needed.

Wednesday, September 25, 2024

I keep beating a dead horse, but my goodness they keep giving me reasons.

This is from Speaker Johnson talking about the efforts to fund the government after he couldn’t get the Republicans to vote for a bill that had a moth’s chance in hell of passing.

"But, he wrote, “as history has taught and current polling affirms, shutting the government down less than 40 days from a fateful election would be an act of political malpractice.”"

This is the problem, shutting down the government is not political malpractice, but governing malpractice.

The idea he or anyone thinks this is potlicital malpractice completely misses the point they are there to govern, create law, make policy, NOT GET ELECTED! (in my best Trump tweet voice)

We need new parties.

Let’s talk about next steps.

I am much more conservative than the public policy I offer as an option to what the Democrats and Republicans put forward. I do also have some serious populist tendencies.

I do believe many to most Americans are moderate to moderately conservative. Please note I said most Americans, not all. There are a very significant group that are extremely leftist or “progressive” and then there is MAGA.

There is also a significant group of conservatives that are still hanging onto a Reagan era conservatism that has probably played out it’s usefulness as a political or conservative movement.

So quickly you can see there is going to be a huge vacuum in the conservative ecosphere post Trump. Post Trump may or may not be this election, however there will come a time when Trump loses his shine so to speak. And there is the looming possibility that date maybe November 6, 2024. Maybe not, but if he loses there could be an immediate drop in his grip on the Republican Party. Do not get me wrong, there will still be quite a large MAGA contingent that will be holding on and very involved in his post election loss activities, whatever that might be.

The point I am making is there is going to be a brewing battle to who fills the conservative leadership vacuum post Trump. And I will say this, no one has the inside track to fill that vacuum. No one. It could have been Nikki Haley, but once she acquiesced to Trump she lost some support from the leftover Reagan Republicans. DeSantis just doesn’t have a personality for people to gravitate. Christie maybe, but he won’t be the leader, but a player that garners some attention. The Senate MAGAs such as Haley, Cotton or Cruz will lose luster once Trump is gone. And Cruz has a slight chance of losing his seat this year. McConnell is way past his prime. And there is no one in the House that would generate any National interest due to their incessant madness and internal bickering, plus the few in leadership in the House have no respect from the general population, not just the left wing haters. Hogan from Maryland? Is he a leader? The Lincoln Project? Or are they a one trick horse?

I am calling it now. If Trump loses there is going to be either a complete breakdown of conservative politics in America or the right wing MAGAsphere is going to take over and cause such a blue wave in 2026 that public policy, our deficit, our debt, foreign policy will be in such disarray that the chaos we are predicting for the upcoming post election will only become worse, but in a different way. The leftover MAGA world will blame the resulting chaos they create on the Democrats, and our general populace will have lost complete track on anything our government is doing for them. Subsequent to 2026 too much progressive politics will scare the middle to either complete apathy or back to the MAGAsphere.

Again the majority of our country is more moderate or moderately conservative than this leftward lunge will accept.

So it is imperative a strong moderately conservative party grows quickly from the ashes of Trump’s defeat if that happens on November 05, 2024. So younger members of the Republican Party must quickly coalesce around each other, especially those who support family oriented policies, budget oriented candidates who will need to understand they are going to need to compromise significantly at first to start steering budget conversations rightward, yet all in all between this election and 2026 they will need to move fast with rational ideas all the while fighting the leftover MAGA hatred that will dominate social media. No easy task to say the least.

Now will this fall under the Republican name or will a new party come to fruition I have no idea, yet to recreate a political equilibrium, this party will need to rise quickly or the worst of right wing inclinations will take hold of quite a large section of the populace with leaders of even worse character than Trump.

This new party may not win a majority in 2026, but if they can become viable enough that people see a rational alternative to MAGA and extreme progressiveness then hope glimmers significantly.

Unfortunately we will need this this phoenix to rise from Trump’s political ashes post haste since 2026 will come at us faster than the last off cycle election.

And this rise will be faced with great peril. The MAGAsphere will be fighting it tooth and nail for voters and with no dynamic or charismatic figure to lead it, clawing a foothold onto the general populace political psyche is challenging.

As you know I would support this being a new major party, but helping to find the leaders for this most important endeavor is something I fear not happening. I am not a dynamic personality on social media and I do not know one or probably years ago my thoughts would have gained much more traction. So I can hope that circumstances changes things or a new group of younger dedicated Republicans regain the Party mantle and move forward.

And as always I offer quite a few ideas for public policy if anyone is interested.

Same ole song and dance, the government is going to shutdown ho hum……again. But first, does the low propensity voter feel insulted?

I wonder because they might be the smartest voters.

It seems the world only pays attention to them for two months out of every four years. They are just as important for the entire four years as everyone else. So many of us spend the entire four years yelling and screaming at our government and it never listens anyway even if you give the politicians advice. You have to be careful with advice, it is like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, while advice is either good or bad in the ear of the listener. Anyway our politicians just don’t care about the majority of us for four years, but for two months this fall everyone is talking about the low propensity voter; like what does that mean.

And I am being a hypocrite here, I have written that we need to cut down the time of our elections anyway, but I rant and rave all the time about politics in this blog. Maybe the low propensity voter has this down to a science, just don’t give a rat’s back end until September and bam everyone wants your vote now. So they do what I say and that is care about elections for only a couple of months. It would actually do this country some good to cut down election season, but I haven’t got the fortitude not to be the angry old man yelling at politicians to get off of my lawn.

Of course politicians will make the same empty promises to them that they do to the rest of us, yet the low propensity voter is at least promised irresponsibly to specifically. I don’t get that attention and again I even give out free advice.

So let’s hail the low propensity voter, pat them on the back for their ingenuity and more importantly their sanity for ignoring all the hubris for over 3 and a half years and still be the group most people say will decide this election.

Maybe I should target them to get new parties.

And I asked the question of someone specifically this evening, but now to y’all: are you tired of hearing about another government shutdown? I mean this issue is older than dirt, but much less important. We need dirt for food, still trying to figure out why we need our current political parties.

A shutdown will cause problems, but the duopoly that gets elected every two or four years still hasn’t figured out, it is us, the voters/citizens they are supposed to respond. And you knew this one was bad when the Representative from Georgia Ms. Marjorie T. Greene even called out her own caucus over it.

It is old news, bad government, bad political theatre and incompetence all rolled into one overly dramatic stage show that accomplishes nothing. And over the years this has pushed our budget into very dangerous territory.

And people think I waste my vote when I don’t vote for Democrats or Republicans, please… please think about this before you waste your vote.  We are way past the lesser of two evils consideration, this is the greater of two incompetencies thinking.

The campaigns are heading…..? and other thoughts

I wanted to use a horse racing analogy, you know there headed down the back stretch, rounding the final curve, or headed down the stretch, but I occasionally go to the horse races and I really like them so I didn’t want to taint something fun.

Anyway I was reading an article discussing the paycheck to paycheck people who might vote for Trump since many people feel they were better off under Trump’s administration than Biden’s. And technically they were, but what they do not realize is that mostly a President’s administration is a lagging economic indicator not a leading economic indicator. Of course you need to understand a bit of basic economics to understand where I might be going with this, so what a President does that might influence the economy shows up late in their administration or at the beginning of the next administration.

And in many cases what a President does cannot even be a leading economic indicator, many times circumstances dictate more of what happens and it is how the President responds that effects the economy. Bush wasn’t the direct cause of the 2008 recession, but it fell under his administration so many people blame him for it. Obama reacted accordingly and some of his policies eventually helped the economy, but also the Fed dropping interest rates to historic lows benefitted the perception of some people (Democrats) on how well Obama did. Eventually our economy started growing again and Trump ended up benefitting from that growth. Then Trump cut taxes for the rich, they bought stock like crazy since they had free money with low interest rates and more of it with the tax cuts so the stock market boomed under Trump. The actual economy was good, but stock price growth was stronger than the actual economy.

Then the pandemic happened and even though the stock market did a roller coaster drop then bounced right back again with the continuation of historically low interest rates, the actual economy took a hit, not in growth, but in inflation which occurred as the economy transitioned from Trump to Biden. Trump’s lack of reaction to the pandemic and other factors lead to the high levels of inflation we saw, but since it happened under Biden’s administration many people feel inflation is Biden’s fault. And of course in this election cycle the Republicans are playing this tune to no end. With most people not having majored in economics in college the understanding of all the factors of inflation are easily manipulated.

So for the paycheck to paycheck voter it is easy for them to mistake the economy under Trump and Biden so after all the above I tend to agree with the author’s premise that they might be more likely to vote for Trump than many Democratic operatives want to realize or admit and Trump still has a strong chance of winning the election.

And before you say Biden had a hand in reducing inflation over the last year or so, it was the Fed raising interest rates that also had a stronger affect on inflation than anything Biden did.

And now that inflation is slowing the Fed is thinking of cutting interest rates, which is what they should do, but the Republicans are going to cry foul since it is coincidentally going to happen a month or so before the election. And the Republicans I am predicting will scream loud and hard that the Fed is trying to help the Democrats by lowering interest rates now.  I bet you dimes to donuts and donuts are worth more now because of inflation you will see this messaging from the Republicans next week if interest rates are cut which seems to be likely. It will be all Biden’s doing that interest rates are lowered now and they will twist this more ways than a pretzel to try and make their case.

And even though the policies of both Presidents exacerbated inflation for different reasons, neither is directly responsible for it. Yet tell that to millions of Americans suffering from it right now so again there is going to be way too much of a tendency by Republicans to tie inflation to Biden, too much of them yelling foul when interest rates get lowered, but in the end neither party not sure what to do next for our economy and that is where we stand in the campaign, a bunch of people in Washington touting stuff they only have a partial handle on and blaming the other side for all they don’t have a handle on.

Throw in the hundredth let’s shut down the government threat from the Republicans and all sorts of madness is going to be spouted on the campaign trail for the next 50 or so days with neither party exactly sure what they are doing.

Or you know why Trump and Harris don’t have an economic plan, well…..

because they don’t have a clue.

Other thoughts:

I am not a big fan of class action lawsuits for the same reason most people are mad about them. You hear about grotesquely large sums being touted, yet everyone gets thirty eight cents or whatever. I am saying this because I read about two this weekend and you know the attorneys will make hundreds of millions of dollars, but we all doubt we will get a hundred cents from them. The two I heard about where one about banks and Mastercard and Visa settling for excessive ATM fees that blocked competition and the other for Navient being sued for predatory practices regarding refinancing student loans. Millions of Americans are affected by these suits, but what we will see. Hmmmmmmm

What is going on with right wing women and their looks. You see so many derogatory comments about left wing women with meme pictures spread on right wing social media sites including “X” formerly Twitter (when can we stop saying formerly Twitter?) looking well memeish. Yet what is with Laura Loomer? She looks like a Kimberly Guilfoyle wanna be and ugh, why would she want that look. Both look scary, like some serious technical flaws in a Stepford wife design. Or where the manufacturing of said Stepford wife had serious breakdowns. And I saw a recent picture of Megha Kelly and she looks overly emaciated. What has happened to her? No matter what, I would think some of these right wing social media influencers may want to say something to some of their own before posting anymore comments.

And finally going back to the economics situation above, I have been touting my own ideas to lower the deficit and debt of our country for decades and first put into print for the 2012 election. It isn’t that hard folks.

Cheers

Well the debate is over, now what?

How about going to the beach, a mountain, a national park, anywhere just to get away from the madness.

Well that didn’t go well for one Donald J Trump. I do not think Harris knocked it out of the park, but at least she didn’t come across as an angry old man with no vision.

Harris spent most of the debate either goading Trump or painting some rosey future with no substance behind it and Trump told us all we live in a dystopian hell.

The little Harris did offer for the economy was some quaint ideas that might help a few families specifically, but the rest of us are now going… well what about us?

Like many I do not think the moderators should have fact checked as they went along, yet it was nice to see Mr. Trump challenged on his incessant madness of lies on occasion.  Harris should have been the one that challenged him on his facts, so she got lucky that she didn’t have to waste her answer time to question what Trump said.

Did it appear the moderators favored Harris? To an extent yes, but it wasn’t as bad as right wing media plays it out. And the comments that only losers complain about the refs is probably working in Harris favor for a minute portion of the undecided voters.

And another randomly small portion of the undecideds that pay attention to world politics probably were scratching their heads at the Orban reference. Why use him as an example of someone to tout your leadership skills on the world stage? Is that the best you can do? Not a good look for anyone that is aware of what is going on in Europe. Just in general Hungary isn’t a country most Americans pay attention to and since Trump didn’t reference where Orban was from, the reference went somewhere into foul territory in left field. It wasn’t hit in the park. And there is nothing wrong with Hungary, I hope to include it in a long sightseeing trip through Europe one day. Actually I have three or four separate self planned European tours on my bucket list I hope to accomplish. I hope I get to make them all.

Anyway back to the debate, or really maybe not. There wasn’t much of the debate on policy. And the actual statements of help for first time homebuyers, family care and for small businesses, we didn’t hear much else about the economy except for it can be rosey or you are living in that dystopian hell. No one mentioned the budget or lack there of, no one talked about taxes, oops we did get a bit about healthcare or that it exists and we need to make it better. For some strange reason, the Affordable care act or Obamacare got some burn, Trump saying he made it better in lieu of creating his own program, and Harris saying she wants to make it even better. Since it is mediocre at best, won’t be hard to make it better and I am not sure how Trump made it better during his tenure as President. Yet as always, he loves to tell us he made everything better. I wish I could say that and get away with it. I could tell the better half how wonderful our budget is as I struggle to pay the monthly bills. Just look up at her and smile while my stomach turns as I see the checking balance go down with each bill. Wouldn’t that be nice.

Overall Harris avoided policy issues she could be called out by triggering Trump and Trump has never offered any specifics on policy except for the occasional drill baby drill rhetoric, some statements about the border situation which we all want improved and he is going to tariff the rest of the world into economic submission. Not sure how that is going to work though.

Overall we still need new candidates, new ideas, really any ideas with some depth would be helpful and new parties. If Harris doesn’t jump dramatically in the polls from this debate it still proves the economy is voter’s most important issue and she needs to get out in front of that fast otherwise why would anyone want Trump except for his fans at this point.

Oh yeah, it is Dallas Cowboys season

Every year I make a prediction on how their year is going to shake out. How well will they do, etc.?

And every year it gets more nauseating to think about another season.

I did not predict they would go far last year in the playoffs, yet I was actually hoping to be proven wrong. They didn’t fail my prediction, lost in the playoffs and didn’t make the NFC Championship much less the “big game” yet failed me as a fan. They appeared to be much better at the end of the year than I thought they would be, then for the umpteenth time since their last Super Bowl they fell short.

So how does a person or fan predict how they are going to do this year? It is just about impossible and with contract distractions all preseason, who knows how each player feels about the future. And I am including the players who don’t have contract negotiations going on because they have got to be looking at the front office (meaning Jerry Jones) and wondering what is the commitment to win. And that can lead to a why do I need to care attitude. If the owner isn’t showing commitment, why should the players, all of them in fact.

It is a bit scary to think this season could fall through a crevice and turn out real ugly. I do not want this to happen, but honestly I think it is a possibility. If the players have lost confidence in Jerry and there are no loud rumblings coming from Frisco right now, but it may only take a game or two for players to decide Jerry ain’t doing anything. And this is all feeling.

I am glad Lamb is signed, it does say something, but is it enough. Players have to feel their efforts are supported and that is by the front office paying the correct players, if those players are paid then the other players feel like ownership is committed to winning.

Also a problem that concerns me is how good is our offensive line or for that matter the defensive line. I did not see enough of preseason to present a strong opinion, yet the little I did see or hear about doesn’t leave me with a ton of confidence. The good news is I may have not seen enough. I am a big believer in the front lines on both sides of the ball really dictate a game and if you want success in the NFL your line better be good if not really good.

I still have confidence in the coaching staff so I believe if they can get some rhythm they still might make the playoffs.

To me football boils down to the players, the coaching staff and the intangibles. If you have talented players across the board, you don’t always have to have the best at each position, but talent across the board you have a good chance. If all things being equal or close in player talent then the coaching staff matters immensely. A well thought out game plan with players who truly understand their position and role makes a huge difference. Finally you have the intangibles and this is where I worry the most. The Cowboys for many years since the last Championship have had the first two aspects mentioned above. And this is why they have failed to move past one or two playoff wins especially the last couple of years. They have come out flat at the first of games, seriously flat, no focus, no desire, and then try to recoup it throughout the game. You cannot enter a playoff game without enormous amounts of intensity, desire, energy etc…. the intangibles.. who wants it more and this has to be from the very first play. And is this the coaches or the players fault? I think both so until I see the intangibles come to fruition I worry each and every year about winning in the playoffs. There is a good chance the Cowboys will make the playoffs this year. And there is a good chance I am going to be throwing things at my TV in January. I am not sure I can continue watching this year over year.

Thank goodness I am old and have seen every NFL championship game the Cowboys have played including Green Bay in the 60’s. I would like to see some more, yet not quite sure if I will unless Jerry Jones retires, then maybe there will be hope.

Yet for this year I am going to go out on a limb and say the Cowboys will go 10-7 or maybe, maybe 11-6, make the playoffs and actually make it to the NFC Championship game. I do not think they will win it. I think McCarthy is smart enough to realize the Cowboys have to approach the playoffs completely different than the last few years and will push the team to be somewhat successful. They are going to struggle at times this year, but will win enough to get to the playoffs. And again I think they will win at least two playoff games.

So let’s see if I am proven wrong and have a TV in February.

Jerry makes me drink so Cheers!

Happy Labor Day and the irony of it

Well to those of you who are blessed with the day off I hope you are enjoying it.

Unfortunately due to the fact that the majority of our country works in the service industry they are working, yet some how or another Wall Street and executives have the day off.

So what gives? A bit of corporate greed, a bit of lack of family values, a bit of hypocrisy and so on.

I love to hear conservatives say they are for family values, yet all their policies go against it. It isn’t just Labor day, it is in general. People should be off to be with their families.

We struggle nowadays to be with our families and it isn’t just the so called political divide. This problem has been developing for decades. And it is worsened with so many people working in the service industry.

It wouldn’t hurt the world for people to be off, yes even people who work in convenience stores, grocery stores, gas stations etc. People can plan a day ahead for basic necessities or wants.

We need to get back together as families and spend time with each other and society needs to support this concept. Instead it is discouraged. People are required to work 60 hours or more a week. And before you worked 60 hours a week to “get ahead” or earn extra money for that family vacation. Now it is 60 hours a week to survive.

We all wonder what is going wrong with our country, yet the answers are staring us in the face, but we don’t want to go towards it. People are dragged away from their family early or they come from a dysfunctional family and do not know what it takes to have even basic family interaction. And this dysfunctional family is partly because as a society we do not encourage being with your family.

People always talk about “back in the day” and yes there were family problems back then, but people tried or some would. There was an understanding of the value of the family, not just for economic survival but for community and support.

I always say we shouldn’t legislate morality, yet we can create policies that support our families. And supporting family and main street over Wall Street would not be anti conservative policy. Wall Street shouldn’t be the primary driver of public policy. Our values should be and even without legislating morality.

It would not hurt us to shut down all non-essential businesses for holidays. We did it during the pandemic, so why not a few times a year for the holidays already in place such as Labor Day, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter or even add a couple more if needed, but the vast populace should have the day off and then as a society we go back to encouraging people to be with their family and friends during this time. This is family value policy as much as anything else.

And even if we started doing this, it is going to take some time for people to regroup with their family since we have spent so much time splitting it up.

So this means talking to our young people about what is important. Let them know, computers, games, streaming are here, but so are your parents, your grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles etc. They may not always be here. And what happens when you grow old, who are you spending time with? Yourself? Maybe they may not want a family now, but do they want to completely ignore old age. We spend time encouraging people to save for retirement, but what about the time going to be spent in retirement. Who will you wake up next to, who will call you to talk, who will you meet at a restaurant for lunch?  These are valid questions to ask yourself even while you are young.

People do not want to hear this, but the Catholic Church was open today and had Mass. What other churches are open today so you can come and celebrate with your family? We need them to be open and people come together to celebrate even the small joys in life and to thank for what we have. Yet this is discouraged.

Again, there is so much talk about family values from Republicans, yet they spend more time propping up Wall Street and the one percent instead of focusing on what is truly important for this country. A company’s profits are nice, but they do not need to post record profits every quarter. Supporting the business climate above all isn’t conservative policy, that is just greed.

Our country is great because of the work people put into it and today we should let the worker be celebrated, not too much to ask if you really care about your workers, even the service industry workers.

Happy Labor Day,……. Sort of

If you believe in climate change or global warming, then I have a monstrous infrastructure project for you to solve the problem

It is pretty straight forward. You just need to cover large swaths of American Highways and major city arteries with coverings that alternate having solar panels on top and heat absorbing tiles or other substance. And all the solar panels are plugged into charging stations for electric vehicles then the remaining electricity generated is sent to the overall electric grid.

You can alternate one mile of coverage with solar panels and then one with the heat absorbing texture. And the electricity generated can help pay for the project. It won’t cover the full costs yet as you build the cost is somewhat offset. And then it allows ongoing income to help maintain our highways and these coverings so tax dollars can be spent elsewhere once they are built.

One way to start is to sell revenue bonds and use the income to pay back the bonds.

Just a thought on this hot August afternoon.

Cheers

I know this is redundant, but I just saw the craziest thing on “X” (Twitter)

Okay I do not talk about faith, religion, God much, however I am a bit more involved with Church than I let people know.

Yet just a few minutes ago I was scrolling through X when I ran across one of those end of the world accounts. My curiosity has always been piqued by end of the world people mainly because they always reference the end times from the Bible, yet Jesus Christ himself said you will not know the hour of my return. So another words they just make stuff up to try and convince you that the end is near and you should do something about it. Mostly repent which isn’t going to kill you, but everything they say that goes along with this just baffles my mind.

I won’t give you a homily right now, just know it is more what you do for God that gives you a better chance to get to Heaven than worrying about the end of the world.

I did not have much religion so to speak when I was young, it was a bit close to the idea that if we don’t beat God into you then you are going to hell. Never attracted me much, but end times people always were near the Southern Baptists or Church of Christ crowd so I would hear about it occasionally as someone would try and convince people of their assurances the time to repent was nigh and so on. And ever since my ears would pick up a bit, not much, but some when the end times were discussed.

Which leads me to a dangerous obsession with “X” on occasion. There are quite a few end times posters and they always have a following so anytime they post something you can crawl down quite a few rabbit holes as people post all sorts of “information” that reinforces what they tell each other, yet here we are, still not sure when the world is going to end. Not sure what is worse the Umbrella Academy or the end times people on “X”. Not a bad show, but weirdly gross graphics and petered out at the end. And the world didn’t end no matter how many apocalypses they survived.

Anyway so traveling through a “X” land rabbit hole I ran across a post that had a video and the caption on the video is “The one world church is being born”. Also in the post itself it references Revelation 17 and that time is short. Now I watched this 53 second video and yes this is about the one church, or more specifically the Catholic Church who says we are the one church and everyone needs to come back,,, yet, yet, yet… the Catholic Church has been around 2,000 years give or take a day or two. At first I got the impression this person thought this video was announcing something or was the beginning of something, I am not quite sure. I pulled up their posting history and this person talked much about Israel and all this is going on over there right now and was pretty much on top of it daily. So you have to give them credit for paying attention and picking a cause to follow, but this person was emphasizing the war aspect and things were moving fast.

Going back to the video, this is what floored me. This was a video of the National Eucharistic Conference in Indianapolis that occurred in July. And it was a great quick video recap of the event. So now I am trying to figure out how this person has taken this video of the one world church is being born and exactly what does this person think is going to happen here. Or the other madness is the Church may have produced this with the one world church is being born caption, which confuses me in other ways.

The Eucharistic Conference was the celebration of the body, blood soul and divinity of Christ and Catholics have been celebrating this for two thousand years again give or take a day or two.

So going back to the post it stated Scripture is playing out before us. Revelation 17  and then says time is short. The person does not reference if this person knows this is the Catholic Church and is saying the Church is the famous prostitute or if they think this church is the beginning of the one world church being born. I do not study the end times literature in depth, I just plunk along through their posts so maybe there are other references one of the enlightened would know, however to me it is crazy that something celebrating the beginning of Christianity, the institution of the Eucharist is now referenced as the end time by people who call themselves Christians. Or maybe it is the end times, because this is some crazy madness. And again if the Church is saying one world church being born, maybe they need to review their own history.

Moral of the story, turn off “X” before dark or just don’t sign on.

Solution to our problems number 17,523

Well the Democrats ended their convention last week and they think they know it all. Of course the Republicans did too a month ago. So let’s get down to real problem solving.

Aren’t you tired of all the crap where people make bank just making stuff up.  Seriously it has become more than a cottage industry. There are fortunes being make by people lying through their teeth and having no accountability for what they say, the consequences or even just common decency.

So what to do?

Let’s just sue people that make up stuff with made up stuff. What, they are going to throw the suit out of court? No you put it into the suit that this person has no regard for the truth so you can sue them for whatever you want, claiming whatever you want and just throw their logic in the face. Have the suit state you are suing the person because they lied so you are lying about them so either they have to accept the lies about them or answer to their lies. Tricky wording here, but I hope you get the gist.

Someone starts making money off a blog or podcast just creating rambling conspiracy theories, so you create a conspiracy theory about them then sue them for it stating you have been harmed by the conspiracy theory you created. And when they balk just say, you have no recourse since you just did the same thing to someone else. Hence they have to retract their conspiracy theory or your suit holds water.

Truthfully I do not know how many Judges would want to jump on this grenade, but hey you never know. Since the Republicans are good at Judge shopping maybe we can find some Libertarian Judge who would love to hear this argued out. All you have to do is win one and then let the floodgates open. Encourage people to file frivolous suit after frivolous suit on these conspiracy theorists until they are litigated off the internet.

Anyway just a thought on this hot and not so wild August Sunday night.

Also I tweeted or “X”ed about John Oliver and what is a successful presidency, please find and like.

Cheers

Everyone is talking about Joe, so let’s talk about term limits

Now why would I go there? Mainly because of Joe or rather how old is Joe.

First of all I am against term limits. It seems to me to be the lazy way out of getting rid of bad politicians, yet we do have too many politicians who are older than dirt.

So what to do. I watched President Biden’s speech from last night this morning. Sorry I tried to stay up and watch it, but every time I switched over to a news channel to watch it someone else was speaking. For the life of me I cannot figure out why he came on so late. Were they that scared he may have a too many gaffe problem? I hope not. They could have saved time and not had Ms. Clinton speak. The Democrats hurt their chances anytime she shows up.

Since I am an independent conservative I am not too fond of hearing Biden tout his record, but what the heck, he deserves to and I mean that. Which brings us back to the term limits or hopefully lack thereof.

Term limits hurt politicians who turn out to be good public servants. Woefully they are few and far between. Term limits would limit the damage performative politicians like Matt Gaetz and MTG by limiting their time in office, but that is being lazy. A well educated electorate is the answer to the performative politician unfortunately we don’t have a well educated electorate.

And that is one of problems of the duopoly. They don’t want a well educated electorate. People who asks serious questions of politicians expecting them to be good public servants are a hindrance to people who want to be in power for power’s sake or their own brand or their own milking the system or whatever they may do.

Yet term limits are not the answer. Again I do not agree much with Joe Biden’s policies, yet he truly has made a career of being a public servant who tried to in his opinion to create good public policy. It is better to have someone make the effort, or according to his words “give it his best” then make compromises as necessary than to kick someone out who is doing a good job because they have run the term limit gambit.

The jerks, losers, greedy, etc should never get in office in the first place, but people will say that person is okay because they vocally support the correct policies or my side instead of making the effort to find someone with integrity who will support their side and policies and actually attempt to write the laws that work for their side or policies. And please note I wrote “vocally” support. As Joe said last night, I mean that. Basically they give lip service to something they care absolutely nothing about to obtain power for their benefit. I do not care to guess how many pro lifers there are who basically have no idea what it means to be pro life, but damn it helps them to win elections in certain areas of the country.

So again the lack of a well educated electorate bug a boo gets in the way.

And that is why I say term limits are the lazy way to deal with bad politicians. It takes work to educate the electorate including by having a good public education system. And then teaching people critical thinking skills seem to be impossible in this country, yet it would strengthen our democracy more than any campaign promise you will hear over the next two and a half months.

If people were able to truly comprehend what was crap coming out of someone’s mouth, then we could move this country forward like never before. Yet people do not want to spend the time. And again, if they also spent the time finding people of integrity to run, it would make this a bit easier.

Our country is great for quite a variety of reasons, including the ability of well intentioned politicians to compromise occasionally to come up with workable public policy. None of us will get everything we want because we are a very diverse country, so it is better to determine what is the most important issues facing this country then work together to address them. We do not want one side becoming too powerful because that eventually hurts the country. At times a more liberal approach may be needed, other times a more conservative approach, but neither should dominate or we take away what makes us great, not just the diversity but the diversity of ideas on how to solve problems. In the long run, the best idea should be made into law and executed to it’s best potential. And then time changes and new ideas will be needed.

And when those new ideas are needed a well educated electorate will find the new people to take on those challenges. Sometimes some of the older politicians will be able to make those changes and sometimes they will need to be voted out so fresh people can create the changes needed and this goes for both conservative and liberals.

Joe Biden gave fifty years of his life to politics, you can argue whether that is true public service or not is okay, but Joe Biden did serve the public with his life. Sometimes we need people like that to know how to steer laws into existence, to know how to talk to the other side to get things done, to realize when to make a push for something or when to stand down and let another person take charge.

For every reason you do not like Joe Biden or like Joe Biden, his career proves that we do not need term limits, just people who make the effort and which also means most importantly the voters.

The obvious Trump problem

Recently I talked about Trump might be on a collision course with himself and that problem is very real.

Yet there is the Trump problem the Republicans have no answer. Trump is old. And even though some doctors have come out publicly saying he is in good health. Visually hard to say. He is 78, appears overweight and you have to wonder does he have high blood pressure since he is always upset at something.

Joe Biden’s debate showing helped the Democrats solve their old guy problem in time. They were able to move Harris up before the actual nominating convention. So no matter what Trump says about a coup removing Biden, they are good to go with Harris since there was time before the convention for a case to be made by someone else. The Democrats fell in line timely and so Harris can move forward with confidence.

Yet what happens if Trump cannot move forward? Let’s say he has a stroke. He is still alive, yet how is his capacity? What happens if he passes away? Can the Republicans replace him at this point? There is one argument they cannot. And if they do replace him, is it Vance? Must it be Vance? And if not Vance, who then?

What happens if he collides with himself and becomes a complete mockery of himself or says something that even the MAGA world cannot accept?

The Republicans are so far down the path with Trump, what would they do if Trump couldn’t continue. I don’t think they know. And the irony is all the things Trump saying the Democrats shouldn’t be able to change their ticket and it is a “coup” or whatever, what would Trump say if the Republicans feel forced to remove him from the ticket. The madness that would erupt from Trump being removed no matter how obvious he needs to be is humorous and yet very scary.

Stepping out into the modern world

I just finished recording my first podcast. I tried doing it all myself, but you know us old timers need help.

Anyway it is now live on Youtube, under the dallasareaopinion name. There are some older podcasts from another set of people, but the one I did today is all me.

Since I tried to do it all myself that includes editing so my learning how to do this is a work in project. If you get a chance please listen and let me know your thoughts, (outside of I need a better editor. Lol)

It is titled “if it ain’t socialism, it isn’t socialism”

Cheers

Trump is on a collision course with himself and other madness

I am not sure if I heard that phrase Trump is on a collision course with himself specifically, or if others are talking about the same thing. I do feel that my interpretation might be different.

And it was this thought or the way the phrase is stated and another thought that I cannot get into because it would say too much. These are the kind of things you wonder how original am I. Again I do not think I am the only who said Trump is on a collision course with himself, but cannot put my finger on where. Or did I hear something similar, yet different in meaning.

Well anyways Trump is on a collision course with himself. Of course not the literal kind where he is going to crash into something. This is an internal kind, one you cannot put your finger on. Will we see it? Probably not, but we may see the aftermath of it. In fact we probably will, but we won’t know what the aftermath looks like until it happens. It could take on many shapes. There could be many results.

And I am not talking about some kind of public meltdown, yet that could be one of the results. No this is internal deep. He has been trying to manipulate the world around him and his appearance in it for so long that one day he may wake up and realize like the rest of us, we or in in this case him are not in control.

He has built his life up in himself to such a state that if he were to ever realize everything he feels about himself is incorrect, or more harshly a fraud then the cognitive dissonance in his brain would be well mind shattering. Will this happen? We don’t know, yet more and more there are signs around the edges that you can see, figuratively of course, the headlights of the two trains heading towards each other. Right now I could not tell you if they are coming at each other at breakneck speed, and we are only at the point where you just see two very different headlights at a great distance on opposite horizons heading towards a center point, a point of collision.

People have longed talked about Trump coming to grips with himself. I don’t think Trump can come to grips with himself. That would mean he could get through the process of self realization. No Trump is unable to deal with self realization. Self realization being the concept, change can happen afterwards. He is way beyond that. This is going to be a collision and it will be a train wreck afterwards if and when it happens. To be honest I have no guarantee that it will happen, but right now watching him gives me the visual of those two distant headlights headed towards each other.

There is nothing concrete I can say that will point you to my hypothesis about him. Quite frankly most of his public appearances, tired as they may, show him to be the same ole Donald Trump. A bit more tired, a bit more old, yet he is the same Donald Trump he has always been. Does he see himself as a savior? I don’t know, but he relishes in other people seeing him in such a way so he does everything or says everything he can to give off that impression. And many people have spoken of his narcissistic personality, but that is just one aspect of the collision. Say it is one of the cars on one of the trains, maybe one of the heavier ones or maybe even one of the fuel cars that is fed into one of the engines headed towards the other train.

A person does not build up a character like Donald Trump without having many internal safeguards in place, many personas to show the world. We all know how he projects himself as a savior, only he can fix things, only he knows what the answer is, you can only rely on him to get it done, everyone else needs him to be successful. To convince yourself to project in such a way you either have to be truly disconnected from reality or you have layered your brain with so many lies to yourself you no longer understand who you are. And I think he fits into the latter.

Trump appears to know what he needs to say or at least did in 2016 to get people’s attention. He has a grasp on what is going on in the world and he is able to manipulate information to facilitate his appearance of being the guy you want to be in charge. Somewhere he knows there is a reality he needs for him to be a successful Donald Trump. It is the lies he has told himself for decades is what I am worried about for him.

Like I mentioned before, this is not something you are going to see, but once one domino falls in his brain, once he realizes he no longer believes in one lie, one barrier he has put up to get him through the day, other barriers will start not to fall, but shatter. And that shattering will be enormous each one busting through to the next one. He will fight it, but there will be no way to put on the breaks. The trains will hit the collision point. We can only fear how that will look.

And then there is the other thought I had the other day that I did not mention. So I am trying to figure out what does anything mean when you think of something and you can’t put your finger on where you may have heard it or is it an original thought. Yet when said to yourself, it is so obvious you think someone one surely must have said it or written about it and you just haven’t run across it.

I know I am not well read. And lately one of my goals is to try and dedicate two hours a day, every day to reading more. So far, goal not reached. And having a thought where you know it had to have been said, leaves you going I should be reading more. A bit of a vicious circle. And as for that other thought, I am not ready to say it out loud. It is pretty scary. Or at least for me internally. And it is not a political or internal life revelation, it carries quite an enormous punch in how a person can view life. So it scares the fecal matter out of me.

And for a final note; I am impressed with people who can write stories that flow back and forth between multiple time lines. All my stories are linear. Sure some of the longer ones have flashbacks, but even those are within the context of the story. Writing parallel universes is difficult and I am sure if I put my mind to it I could fake it, so I am impressed with authors who can weave multiple stories into one and move about them freely and somehow keep each separate and only have them touch where they need to. I am trying to write a novel write now where two worlds exist, but only one is where the story is happening. The other world is secondary and at times where flashbacks occur. And for this story I really don’t need to pull this talent of writing mentioned into it, it just made think about how others can do it successfully. The story I am working on is just fine in primarily one world and only needing the second one to fill in gaps for the primary story or to illustrate more about the main character. There is no second story going on. It is still a start to finish on one track story.

Cheers

Woke politics has created a label culture problem

Good morning all,

Just thought I would throw that in since being polite in American politics has been thrown out with the bath water.

It seems that no one can do anything without a label being attached as to the why that was done or happened.

Harris picks Walz and now she is anti-sematic. Or everyone is making a big deal about Shapiro being a “jew”, not Jewish or a person of Jewish faith, he is a “jew” as if that is supposed to mean something.

And if you criticize Harris you are racist or misogynist, God forbid it has something to do with she is a liberal and some people do not like her policy ideas.

Are there some people who are going to criticize her just because she is a woman or non-white? Yes. And by the way what do we call bi racial people nowadays? Bi-racial?  Or has a new term sprung up that we can all label people. Some of my children are multi ethnic and they have struggled with what to put on forms when the question of race is asked. Other was a choice for them for years.

Labels are a problem and have been since someone looked at someone else thousands of years ago and said you look different. Unfortunately then they decided the other person was a problem because they looked different and here are half the problems of human history defined.

And then there is the split where people like creating labels so they can be identified which brings us back to the problem mentioned in the above paragraph or others who try to white wash labels in some kind of hackneyed approach to avoiding the reality we are all different.

And labels have become the tool of hate now for so many people. People use labels indiscriminately just to justify how they feel about something or to make themselves feel better. There are no filters and people don’t seem to care. Even the people being labeled appear to relish in the monikers thrown at them or relish in the victimhood mentality. And this means when real problems arise people gloss over them. Or another words there are real racists out there, but so many people play so many games you have a hard time distinguishing idiots from racists. And yes I know some of you will tell me they are one and the same. Maybe so, but there are people who make a living off their racism, exploiting ignorance and idiocy etc and those people need to be addressed different from the idiots. Education can help the idiots, hate filled racism takes a whole different approach.

Yet using labels can make it hard to distinguish who is who in the above horror. Everyone uses labels so indiscriminately that we cannot get past the name calling to solve problems or even talk to one another.

I really do not know what to do, but I am tired of reading so much hate just because one person made a decision and no one can accept that person made that decision based on what may be best or at least workable for the decision maker.

Labels nowadays create too many presumptions.

Another quick hit on the Democrats and Trump-election 2024

On a site called “The Telegraph” Tom Harris wrote an article I totally am in sync. Some people get upset because I am always calling the Democrats clueless.

This article states out my case rather well. I found it on one of the websites that hosts news stories and articles from original media and conglomerates them on their website. No names as always, they ain’t paying me to advertise.

Anyway the blurb states it is a four minute read, yet it makes a solid point that the Democrats are starting to make the same mistakes they made in 2016. If you get the chance, check it out.

Debate moderator update

Yesterday I posted I should moderate a presidential debate between the Republicans and Democrats. I could also and would enjoy doing one for all the non major party candidates.

I know one is done at one point, yet I would be honored to participate in that debate also.

I think I would be the best presidential debate host/monitor

This is easy. I have spent years grumbling about the failures of both major parties so I can be as close to impartial as anyone. Some may say you don’t like Trump which is true, yet I am equally aghast at years of Democratic ineptitude.

I would not be afraid to ask either candidate the real questions this country wants to know the answers   and stick with it or ask follow up questions until they answer in full. I want the mute button and I promise you as much as I would want to say something I would keep my own opinions out of it.

I also feel it would be an honor to moderate the debate and would take the role very seriously. I say this because I know many readers know I can be snarky or smarmy at times.

This country needs a debate where the candidates are held to the fire and while there are many people in our country who could do that, one side or the other is always going to throw out lack of impartiality of any host. The media does have sides and it is obvious.

I think being the host allows me to address or frame questions in such a way to give undecided and independent voters a real look at both candidates. We know both bases are going to come out strong for their candidate and it will be the independents and current undecideds that will pick the winner so I think it is imperative they have a debate host that addresses what they want to hear.

Here are the rules: I ask a question to a specific candidate and that candidate has two minutes to answer the question. I then move on to the next candidate and their question. I will ask both candidates most of the same questions, but not in the same order just to keep them answering the question, not throwing feces at each other. There will be no rebuttals. The candidate answers the question asked and then I move on. Again each candidate will get most of the same questions, not just in the same order. If they stray off topic they get muted. They must answer the question asked.

I can be reached at my email on my profile and will clear my calendar for when needed. October sounds good.
